Where tradition and innovation meet... Huzhou, China.

This was a fun shoot, we started off at 4.30am and headed out into the morning fog by small boat.

We had to move very slowly to not disturb the calm waters whilst approaching one of the fleet of beautiful Chinese junks.

It was still quite dark and I used an Elinchrom Quadra light fired wirelessly to light the junk.

A 1/2 CTO warming gel was added and Austin used the canopy on our boat to "flag" the light preventing spill onto the water.

This provided a lovely warm light onto the junk yet the foreground water remained dark giving great reflections.

The new hotel looming in the mist gives a great feel of the mix of culture and modern growth found here.
