Categorically unqualified in any other administration is overqualified in this one.
// Sam Clovis, Donald Trump's pick to be chief scientist for the Department of Agriculture, has argued that homosexuality is a choice and that the sanctioning of same-sex marriage could lead to the legalization of pedophilia, a CNN KFile review of Clovis' writings, radio broadcasts, and speeches has found. //

Today I hear the secret service budget has been blown by Trump and all his vacation days. The FUNNY THING IS I remember #Fox going crazy about the cost of Obama taking time off. Anyone else remember that?

Politician disses Hawking's research analysis (it doesn't go well)....

It's always sweet to see Scientists tear a new one into politicians that know sweet F-All about science and yet they comment about it and challenge scientists about their research and profession (and what's scary are those very Politicians are put in charge of various scientific agencies... )

A modest proposal regarding the First Amendment.
When NATIONAL REVIEW Pwns the NEW YORK TIMES on Free Speech We're All in Trouble

FOREWORD: The linked article below is SATIRE. The author is not LITERALLY endorsing their own suggestions, they are, rather, using tongue-in-cheek satire to expose the flaw in the argument they're responding to. Please do not comment on this as if it were a literal argument.

I want to start by saying that even if you think National Review is a right wing rag, which to a degree I do as well (but they are still worth it to keep up with, as one of the higher minded examples thereof), you should read this.

That goes especially if you are one of the people on the political left making the frankly terrifying argument that we need to criminalize 'Hate Speech' in defiance of generations of Judicial precedent regarding the 1st Amendment.

When National Review better understands why the left should defecate in their britches at the mere thought of such restrictions than the New York Times, we are in dangerous waters.

Such calls for speech restrictions are especially farcical in light of the triumph of counter-protestors in Boston, proving the battle can be won without giving up liberty for security.

"We have an array of differing views in this country, but I think we can all agree that nobody could be better suited to that oversight role than Jeff Sessions, President Donald Trump, and the thousands upon thousands of state-level Republicans who have been recently swept into office by the infallible will of the people."

From Dan: In all the hubbub of yesterday, we neglected to pass along one of the great opinion pieces in quite awhile. Frank Bruni of The New York Times rips the cover off the ball in this must read essay.

"As the worst week in a cursed presidency wound down, I spotted more and more forecasts that Donald Trump would resign, including from Tony Schwartz, who wrote “The Art of the Deal” for Trump and presumably understands his tortured psyche.

They struck me not as wishful or fantastical.

They struck me as late.

Trump resigned the presidency already — if we regard the job as one of moral stewardship, if we assume that an iota of civic concern must joust with self-regard, if we expect a president’s interest in legislation to rise above vacuous theatrics, if we consider a certain baseline of diplomatic etiquette to be part of the equation."

I've said it before. The Republican party is the Nazi party and last weekend's events just confirm it.
