I can be a picky diner. Case in point, a few days ago I walked a couple miles and passed dozens of restaurants in Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen and Midtown looking for a dining spot. Folks, this is Manhattan. Anyone who can't find a place to eat within a few blocks of searching has be a picky eater. I am trying to maintain my successful 25lb weight loss this past year while still enjoying food. Rocking Horse Cafe is on my favorite list for this. My staple here is the Grilled Vegetable Burrito (that comes with black beans and rice,) along with a side of guacamole that complements the complementary chips and savory dip. Food is great. Service is fast. The staff is very friendly. But, most of the all, the other diners of this popular spot are the primary draw. Lots of eye candy for sure, but more importantly, the overheard conversations of this bustling establishment have probably inspired a few drama/comedy TV episodes via the many entertainment and celebrity diners in the area. I have seen my share of movie and TV actors here. Not to name any names, two actors I have seen were in Showtimes "Nurse Jackie" and the Facebook movie, "The Social Network," respectively.

Thank you for this amazing review you left us in January, Charles! I'm happy to hear our Grilled Vegetable Burrito is able to please a "picky" eater like you -- it let's me know we're doing something right in the kitchen. We look forward to welcoming you back for another great meal (and you'll have to let me know which celebs you've seen in our cafe sometime). Warm regards, Roe

Delicious margarita!! And super creative too. The food was really yummy, and it was exactly what we were hankering that day. My only complaint would be that when I asked to switch out chicken for steak in a chimichanga, I was told it couldn't be done since they were premade. The waiter seemed like he wasn't really into it either.

I'm happy to hear you enjoyed our margaritas, but I have to say I'm a little confused -- we don't serve chimichangas at our cafe. I'm wondering if you meant to leave this review for a different restaurant, or perhaps you had something that was similar to a chimichanga at our cafe. We'd love to have you by any time to try our Mexican food though. All the best, Roe

The food at lunchtime is delicious and at a really great value -- I got the black bean soup and pomegranate-rubbed chicken enchiladas (not to mention all the chips I could eat) for $8. The house salsa and guacamole appetizer are also both really good. The guacamole appetizer comes with a bunch of additional sides and tortillas, making it great for sharing. Unfortunately, grabbing a quick lunch on Monday took ~90 minutes and our waiter hardly paid any attention to us, so demoting to 3-star due to service. I'd go back, but only if I have time, definitely not during work lunch.

A solid 'neighborhood' location. They have a good guacamole starter - you can make small guac tacos with it, comes with crispy duck skin, but they will substitute pepitas if you ask. Pretty good frozen margaritas - a bit on the sweet side, and once they forgot to put tequila in the mix, so that was an expensive slushie! Service can be very hit or miss - often have had to flag down the waiter.

It is easy to see how those who work there on any level are thrilled to be there!!! Nice Chelsea lunch spot. Great for soups. I loved the flavorful gazpacho. Unpretentious sidewalk seating and friendly, laid-back service. The enchilada was a bit over salted.

The food here is pretty good. The lunch special is amazing and super cheap. I worked across the street and would frequent the place for lunch. I would use it as backup in case another restaurant has a long wait.

Interesting Mexican restaurants. The nachos are delicious. I love the frozen margaritas. They have some unusual fare on the menu. The prices are on the expensive side but they do offer unusual fare. The service is excellent.
