I am a musician,

But I am so much more,

I am a painter, the air my canvas,

I fill it with beautiful colors, none the eye can see,

I am a lover, letting my heart sing,

the vibrations roll over others, filling their heats with joy or grief,

I am a dancer, moving in sync with those around,

controlling and coordinating my muscles, and letting the music take me,

I am a musician, and I am obsessive,

attempting to share how I brought a dead piece of wood back to life.

You know I find amazing about music:

Music is a complete social experience without any spoken communication, while the transfer from the musicians to the audience is obvious there are so many other interactions that go unnoticed. Music most often starts out in the back channels of a composer’s mind, strings of melodies and other lines join together to express a mood, atmosphere and emotion the composer wants to get across in the extensive process of writing out a musical score. The conductor then selects the piece written by the composer and begins to interpret what the composer wanted to get across from the black ink written on the page, and with this interpretation the conductor’s gestures lead the ensemble of musicians in extracting a mood from the rhythms and pitch the composer dictated on a page. The players then have the freedom of musical direction in the tempo and mood they are given.

Thats another wonderful thing about music, thats its not tangible like a painting or a sculpture, its a signal in your brain telling you what vibrations are coming through the air around you. There are mountains of sheet music that mean nothing without the musicians and there are stacks of cds and an almost infinite number of mp3 files out there that all amount to nothing without someone listening to them. This constant interaction with simple vibrations that draw an emotional response is amazing and a life changing factor when writing, playing or listening to music. So next time you seat down in a concert hall, at your composing desk, or in your band room chair just take a moment to appreciate the gigantic contribution and collaboration that is the art of music.

I will not use the term Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) in any way, shape or form other than to deride its use.

It's a meaningless term that just creates noise in organizations trying to secure their systems, operations and data.

Darn it Oblivion, why are you so darn addicting...
