Story

An online reputation management company, Reputation Advocate was founded in 2006. The initial projects were targeted for Reputation Advocate Managing Partner Steven Wyer, and as processes and tools were developed to rehabilitate his online content, other businesses began to be referred to the company. From its inception, Reputation Advocate was built upon the foundation of fair representation within the search results for businesses, professionals, families and institutions. The algorithms utilized to value content online are complex and not easily understood. Reputation Advocate is committed not only to educate clients but also to deliver services that assist in the correction, suppression and promotion of an international client base.

Reputation Advocate provides a comprehensive suite of services designed to correct, protect and defend its clients. Working to correct inaccurate or embarrassing search results, Reputation Advocate also utilizes proprietary tools and strategies to control the information delivered when search queries are done.

Reputation Advocate offers a customized search engine focused on ferreting out negative content from hundreds of slander sites, government sites, complaint and rating sites and court documents. Accessing common searches for most names can deliver hundreds and even thousands of “related results.” However, for most Reputation Advocate clients that is not the information they want to quickly access. Reputation Advocate has developed a cutting edge tool, ReputationGPS to quickly and efficiently scan the most damaging sites known to destroy an online reputation. Accurate, fast and efficient, ReputationGPS builds upon the other core components needed to deliver comprehensive online reputation management positioning.

The Managing Director of Reputation Advocate is Steven Wyer. Unlike many executives overseeing companies within the online reputation management industry, Mr. Wyer came first as a client and then as a business professional. Embarrassing online content hurt his career and his family. As Reputation Advocate ’s team of search engine industry veterans developed sophisticated approaches to influence content found online, word spread and the company was off to the races.

Steven Wyer is the author of the critically acclaimed book Violated Online as well as many articles and papers focused on the areas of online reputation management and search engine management. Wyer has also served as an expert witness on behalf of plaintiffs slandered online. Reputation Advocate provides research, analysis and perspective for cases at trial in both state and federal courts.

Mr. Wyer serves as a Director for Middle Tennessee Better Business Bureau (BBB) as well as volunteering in his local community as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Davidson County in Nashville, Tennessee. Speaking in civic, trade and educational forums, Wyer seeks to blend education, perspective and insight for Reputation Advocate clients and others truly concerned about practices relating to online content, pagerank and online influence.
