This was the view from our room. Seriously, who needs the internet when you have a view like this?

Exactly my thoughts, although mine weren't so humorously or eloquently expressed.

Antonin Scalia is angry. And when he gets angry, he gets snarky.

I have always had great experiences with BMW of Mountain View's service department and my last one was no exception. When I bought my last vehicle (with run flats, ick), I also purchased the tire warranty (which has already paid for itself, by the way). But I digress. Long after the service department closed on a Friday night, I discovered a rent in my tire. I took it to Mountain View BMW Saturday morning, found out service was by appointment only, but they (very nicely) were able to squeeze me in. Not only did they replace my tire, but topped off all my car's essential bodily fluids and washed her, too. Bonus points for getting me in and out before noon ... all without an appointment! I just wish they had a more efficient checkout process in place since that chewed up about 30 unnecessary minutes.

Ugh, I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. NEGATIVE STARS if Yelp allowed it. My friend and I went for lunch today, We got there at 12:45, so no lunch crowd. When the server came over to take our order, I asked him a question about a menu item. He said "it's on the menu, look at it." I am not lying. What kind of answer is that?? "It's on the menu." Anyway, we placed our order and then waited. And waited and waited and waited. The guy behind me (who came in after us) got his meal and we waited and waited some more. The people across the restaurant got their food. The people in the back got their food. And still we waited and waited. At 1:15, I walked over to a man I presumed was the owner and asked if he could check on our food because the waiter had disappeared. The guy asks "table 12?" Seriously? How do I know what table I'm at? Anyway, he said he'd check but do you think he put any urgency to my request? No, he finished wrapping napkins or whatever he was doing and then went and yelled in the general vicinity of the kitchen. Still no food. At 1:20, I caught the eye of the cashier and told her we were leaving. She wanted to go see about our order; I told her it was about 15 minutes too late and walked out. Tip to the owner/manager if you read your Yelp reviews: get rid of the male server who worked lunch today (1/11/16). He had a seriously bad attitude and was a piss poor server.

AKA Web Camera Inc which is a couple stores over @ 61 Jefferson Street. World Camera is no longer there but Web Camera is two doors down and uses World Camera's receipts (with the name and address scratched out). I walked in for a camera strap (left mine at home) and walked out with a ridiculously overpriced wide-angle conversion lens. I should have known better since the sales guy kept saying "but wait, there's more" but what can I say? He got me at a weak moment. Anyway, they have a no refund policy which in itself is pretty sketchy since it doesn't appear to conform with California consumer laws. If you do a search of the conversion lens itself, it takes you to a similar product on Amazon but many of the reviews are for this store and its counterparts in other tourist destinations. I managed to swap the conversion lens for an overpriced zoom lens but at least *that* got decent reviews when it first came out *and* I know I'll get more use out of it than I would a wide angle conversion lens.

THE GOOD: It's convenient to be able to reserve books and have them available for pick up here because it's so close to my home. It seems to have a lot of community events. The staff is friendly and helpful. THE CAN'T BE HELPED: The book selection here is pretty limited, which is to be expected since it's so small. THE BAD: It's incredibly noisy. Apparently, libraries are no longer a quiet haven for readers and students but a place for noisy children to run around unattended. Serious negative points for this.

The good: Spacious, clean rooms, friendly staff, quiet, comfy beds, big TV with satellite cable, free wi-fi. The not-so-great: Horrible showerheads, our door, free wi-fi. We stayed a couple of days after Labor Day. As noted above, the rooms were big and clean, the beds were comfy and our neighbors were quiet. We ate dinner (twice) and breakfast (once) at the Galaxy Inn which was convenient, decent (if limited) menu and friendly staff. However, the showerhead in our bathroom had only two settings -- razor-sharp and needle-like. I thought my skin was coming off when I took my first shower (pro tip: turn the water flow down to ease the jets). We were tempted to go over to Ace Hardware in neighboring Panguitch to pick up a replacement. Likewise, the door to our room was pretty difficult to get open but I didn't feel compelled to run out to the hardware store to get a replacement. But that shower. Ouch! The internet connection was slow, slow, slow, but being in a remote area, I was amazed it was even offered. But you know what? I didn't care. I was on vacation and ain't nobody got time for Facebooking in God's country. PS, if you need a blow dryer, they're available at the front desk.
