I just released string-edit. It helps you avoid escape nightmares by editing strings in a separate buffer. It's an early version, so please open whatever issues you encounter. :-) https://github.com/magnars/string-edit.el

Here's an ascii-cast of how it works: http://ascii.io/a/3040

Two pretty nice paredit extensions on What the .emacs.d!? these last days. http://whattheemacsd.com/

After getting to know paredit like a friend, I got frustrated editing html. It is basically a lisp, but with stupid syntax. So I'm working on a paredit for html-mode, called tagedit. Thankfully it is useful without the full set of features, because that's going to take a while.

Right now it has tagedit-slurp-forward, tagedit-barf-forward, tagedit-raise-tag and tagedit-kill.

Maybe someone else will find it useful too. :-)

Evening folks. I just started a blog about customizing your Emacs. In the spirit of Emacs Rocks!, I am writing just bite-sized chunks of useful functionality. Hope you like it :-)

+Magnar Sveen That's what I meant - new users have generally heard of nothing. Personally I follow Steve's work closely (he's got a ton of cool little projects) and I know he simply put together a command from a bunch of existing commands, but most people probably don't :-) Short is good, my point was simply that too much articles have been written about saveplace, backups, disabling the gui, etc. On the other hand libs like elisp-slime-nav-mode and webjump are rarely mentioned and articles about the likes of those will probably have more value long term. At any rate - your idea is a good one and more Emacs resources will never hurt anyone (except vim hackers I guess ;-) )
