Our first night was spent swatting at mosquitoes and other assorted bugs trying to make us give up at Bodie Island Lighthouse...the photography conditions were perfect, the moon wasn't going to show up for a long time, the Milky Way was arching over the lighthouse...and a summer storm was brewing to the South West...I fiddled around with a few different angles and compositions before deciding to shoot this 6 frame panorama. I wanted to get a really wide field of view and really capture the whole scene in front of me...but when lightning struck in the last frame, I couldn't contain myself...I was thrilled...I have spent time every day since editing this image, trying to get it just right. Lightroom and Photoshop choked on the stitch, but PTGUI did it effortlessly. I just hope that my edit does some justice for the great scene that was in front of us.
