Why your car squeals when you start it? One of the most annoying sounds known to man is a loud squeal everytime you start your car, truck, or SUV. What causes this, and what can you do to fix it? All Phase Auto Repair in Essex, Maryland has the answer.

If you've ever experienced a belt squealing, you know how irritating it can be. Everytime you start your car, you have to listen to the engine scream for several seconds while everyone in the parking lot stares at you. No fun. So what to do?

The noise is coming from the drive belt up front, one or more of which run your alternator, AC, water pump, etc. It may squeal only when cold, only the first time you start it for the day, only for a second, or it may never seem to stop. Any amount is too much, however, and it's something that's a quick and easy fix - not to mention it'll save you from getting stranded with a broken belt.

In most cases, the belt simply needs to be replaced and tightened to the right specification. In some instances, other issues are at fault. Your tensioner may be bad, a pulley may be locked up or bent, or fluids could be leaking on the belt. If that's the case, your technicians will know exactly what to do; don't worry.

No matter your repair or maintenance needs, we've got you covered. If you have a noisy belt that's driving you crazy, let us take care of it for you.. It's a quick and easy job, and it'll save you the stress of listening to it every time you start your engine. Why is my brake pedal going to the floor? Typically when your brake pedal goes to the floor there's a hydraulic leak somewhere in the brake system. A common cause in the Essex is rusted steel brake lines. Ounce they rust out, a brake fluid leak develops and causes a no pedal feeling. There's many other things that can also cause this same symptom. The best thing to do is let All Phase auto repair do a full brake inspection. Then we can fix the problem and get the car safely back on the road. #brakes

What is check engine light code P0420? This code is basically saying there is a problem with the catalytic converter in your vehicle. The catalytic converter is a important emission component that helps clean the air coming out of the tailpipe. Sometimes there's other components that can cause this code such as a oxygen sensor. That's why it's always important to have a diagnostic done at All Phase Auto Repair to verify which part is defective. There's also other components that can cause the catalytic converter to go bad prematurely. Such as a engine misfire, oil consumption, coolant consumption. What does code P0455 mean? A lot of people get a free code scan on there vehicle and may get this code to come up. This a failure in evaporative emission system. This code says there's a large leak in the evap system. Sometimes it's as simple as a loose gas cap which can cause a large leak. But that's not always the case. In instances where it's not a loose gas cap, a smoke test is needed. At All Phase Auto Repair we include the smoke test in our diagnostic fee. The smoke test reveals where the large leak is and at that point we can pinpoint which part is defective. Let All Phase in Essex diagnose all your check engine light needs! #P0455

When does my car need a new timing belt? Timing belt replacement is very critical on vehicles that do have timing belts. All Phase Auto repair recommends replacing them every Sixty thousand miles. Failure to replace this belt can cause catastrophic damage to the engine. Some people don't want to spend the money to replace that belt. But when you see the cost of the damage caused by a broken belt. It makes sense to do it every 60k miles to save yourself a lot of money in the end. #timingbelt
