Whilst delighted to return to work full time after 6 months on sick leave, it has curtailed progress on writing new materials. However, I have written another animation for Structure Bonding but (triggered by developments at school) have jumped to the level above (Higher) to produce what I intend to be the first of a two part Bonding Overview. In this first part, I revisit Ionic, Metallic & Covalent Bonding (Pure & Polar) within the context of the Bonding Continuum. Use of Electronegativity values covered, but stops short of Intermolecular Bonding (this will be Part 2).

Continuing to work on the Bonding Structure resource.

Have set up 'container' files for all the other sections that (at the moment) I'm planning to write. These have been added to the Flash version but, at the moment, are little more than Title pages and a sneak preview of some of the resources I have already made in preparation for these lesons.

My next target is Attractions, looking at the various attractions and Bonding within the 5 Structure Groups.

However, I have ended up producing an extra lesson on Atomic Models as a precursor to those lessons, which I've uploaded today.

After almost 6 months off school with heart problems, I start my phased return tomorrow so, unfortunately, progress on these resources will inevitably slow down.

I knew I would be useless at keeping a regular update going but I promise to try harder. Since my last update, things have changed dramatically - in particular, I decided to abandon the whole layout I had been using and switched to a totally different layout that works better with Devices and also responds better to different Desktops. That has taken months, but in between, I've kept my sanity by producing some new Resources - mainly Videos for Equation Writing Practice and the first few sections of a Bonding Structure Resource that had been on the back burner.

Finalised the CSI Simpsons Chromatography page.

Acceptable compromise (use of Tabbed Content) means that all aspects now display as intended on all the browsers including Safari & Chrome. Also been tinkering with the look of the Main menu and Sidebars as well as positioning of Sidebars.

Despite months of work, this website is still in the development stage but I have completed 3 'practice' pages as well as the beginnings of a Landing page.

Search engine powered by Google seems to be working remarkably well - particularly impressed with its ability to scan through text within pdf files.

Have provided a sidebar 'key' to help explain Levels based on new Course structure, at the same time trying to make it easier for teachers from outside Scotland to recognise the target group for each resource.

Practice pages so far:

Advanced Higher Videos - Flash version - best for desktop computers.

Advanced Higher Videos - HTML5 version - should work on Mobile devices.

CSI Simpsons Chromatography - a recent project ideally suited to trying methods of sharing mixture of resources in a Gallery format.

Needless to say, some issues regarding Browsers but most things work well in most browsers.

This Google+ page is designed to make it easy for interested people to comment on / make suggestions for or simply be kept informed of changes to the Chemistry Teaching Website.

This is intended to be a modernised version of my existing website; designed to provide an improved service to users of mobile devices and to respond to the changes taking place in Chemistry education, particularly in Scotland.
