Yes, this is one of Philip's best. Buy it. I have. He can't write music by living on air!

Vigorous interpretation. Schubert would have loved it.

Crumbs! Much to fast and light (Lilac Time!). This was not what the angst ridden Schubert would have wanted. Listen to Richter and spot the difference.

+René Villarreal L. R. I agree with you. Richter could be a mesmerizing pianist, but had certain fixed ideas about Schubert which don't withstand scrutiny, especially concerning the slower movements. Schubert wasn't all anguish. Also, for some reason people assume that Andante means slow, which it doesn't; even Adagio doesn't means slow.

I'd say that Miss Lutyens spent much of her life rebelling against her father and all the cute suburban-itis and pompous Edwardian-ism he stood for. He failed to face up to reality: she was determined to do nothing else. Skilled and interesting as it is, much her music nonetheless is music to commit suicide to. It is unlikely to fill a concert hall (has it ever?) but . . . . I find it weirdly attractive.

Like his Mozart 40 he makes it sound so light and easy. (They all do). You hear new things in the music. Good start to the day. Thanks to Marc and the band.

I love this interpretation. Because it is free and vigorous. Not too studied. The best Wanderer I ever heard in my life was played on an upright piano, that needed a bit of tuning played by a gifted amateur who occasionally hit the wrong notes but never let up in the pure joy of the piece. Ever since then I was sure Schubert wrote the piece for home consumption.

Thanks for transferring this. One of the most profound quartet movements in the repertoire by one of the great String Quartets. The Busch fairly romp through it as it does through most things. I love it.

As good a memorial to Sir Colin as any.

Good selection of high quality plants and wonderful tea rooms. Good base for local walks to Mackworth Church, Markeaton Stones and on to Kedleston. We find ourselves there about once a month. Nice friendly staff. Oh, and you do not feel you are in some sort of soulless hypermarket.

October 2013. Zurich is a very expensive city but this hotel was good value. What makes it especially good is the breakfast included in the rate. Very good buffet. Well located in the old town near the river. We will go again, no doubt. If you want a cheap lunch go the Coop supermarket nearby. Get your rolls or sandwiches there and eat them in the park.
