Should Britian stay or go?
COMMENTARY: The campaigning is over; the voters must now decide the fate of the UK’s membership of the EU. A poem from outside the Union for pollers.
There once was a PM called David
Who thought Britain’s influence had faded.
So he travelled to Brussels to show them some muscles,
But returned looking rather degraded.
This David, he sought re-election,
And without a great deal of reflection,
He tabled a vote on the EU tugboat
For acceptance or outright rejection.
Some people they want to remain,
Status quo they intend to retain.
Others just want to leave, as they firmly believe
That Europa’s a bit of a pain.
The ‘ayes’ push the fate of the nation,
The ‘nays’ want reduced immigration.
But whatever’s been said, with care one must tread,
For Britain’s in for the duration.
