I knew that headhunters and agencies use your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and what not (and often in a very clueless manner!), but this practice is new for me.

On the surface, it makes sense to look at the candidate's code, to see what they can do - it is right there, in public, right? James Coglan makes a rather convincing argument why this is a really terrible way to hire.
