Do I need a degree to get a job as a mean stack developer? Would a associates degree in IT be sufficient ?

- You don't need any degree for IT :)39w
- Most companies don't want developers with a uni degree, as they are too indoctrinated with old classic stuff and can't get up to date really fast with what's currently really used.
Depends on what schools teach you, as for me, back in my country I started computer programming in highschool where I went through all the basics needed (algorithms, data structures, how to split a problem in little easy to solve sub-tasks etc.).
Didn't go through C, C#, Java too much like I see foreign uni's do and forget to teach really what's critical: HOW TO THINK AND SOLVE PROBLEMS.
Also started on my own to learn the most important design patterns in computer programming, something kind of missed by schools and uni's.
With this, you can get into anything in current "development" for web, mobile and desktop.38w
