Their breakfasts are fantastic, especially for the price. Breakfast sandwiches, good coffee, and the BEST pancakes. Every lunch sandwich I've had there has been wonderful too. They're not skimpy with meat and toppings, and they bake the bread right there. Ingredients are fresh and their selection of hot and cold sandwiches is huge. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the're happy to accommodate special orders. I work nearby and this is the place I visit most often. They're only open from breakfast through late lunch, and they're closed on weekends.

Mr Wright always shows up on time, charges a fair price for excellent work, and never tries to oversell services we don't need. He gives us tips on how to handle bugs and critters ourselves, telling is what products to buy and how to protect our home against invasion. He knows an ant species just by looking at one ant, and he can tell you how to get them out of the house. Knowledgeable, fair, and reliable. We hope he never gets out of this business!

Their customer service is abysmal. I was at Dental One Columbia last year for a routine cleaning and they insisted I needed a “deep cleaning” because it had been a year since my last dental cleaning. I agreed to it, despite its not being covered completely by my insurance, and then endured the fastest, roughest cleaning I have ever experienced. The hygienist (who looked like Dave Foley in drag) was finished in under 10 minutes, and when I winced or yelped I was told “it's not so bad, try not to move.” When it was time to make a new appointment, I asked quietly at the desk to please put me with a different hygienist, because of the horrible experience, and the receptionist repeated loudly, with the hygienist in question within earshot “so you didn't like this hygienist and want a new one?” I've since found a new dental practice, thank goodness, but I needed my Panorex X-rays from Dental One, so I called them. Their phone system is torturous, and when I finally jabbed a random number to speak to a person, the woman who answered gave me attitude because she was the “new patient coordinator” and didn't deal with X-rays. Way to scare off new patients! I went in today to check on the X-rays, since it's been two weeks and nobody had called, and there was nobody at the front desk. A dentist saw me, asked why I was there, and then went to speak to a receptionist. The dentist said, laughing “She's here for her X-rays. Just walked in the door!” Kathleen the receptionist managed to snort out a derisive “No!” before coming over to see what I needed. I could hear every word, as the two of them decided my request was stupid. Their customer service was the worst I have ever encountered in a dental practice. Stay far, far, far away. If you don't care about customer service, I still recommend you avoid this practice because they are set up like a dental factory, getting people in and out as fast as possible for as much money as they can manage.

Employees were incredibly rude. I needed help filling out forms and I was waved off, told to read the form. Finally, one employee came to help me and told me what to fill out, but three days later I got a call from some office saying they couldn't process my shipment because there was info missing. Don't go to this FedEx if you are new at this and need help figuring out the process. They will either NOT help, or give you WRONG information. I'm writing to them to complain because this is ridiculous.

The day receptionist is much nicer than the evening one, who can be rude and snotty towards new people while chatting with regulars at the desk, leaving people on hold on the phone for several minutes. I brought my cat in for urinary and thyroid issues, and the vets I saw treated him well. We keep seeing different vets, which is not great for continuity of care, but each vet has been very good, and when I've had questions the vets themselves are very good about talking to me on the phone and answering all my questions. The prices are reasonable, and the vets don't push unnecessary treatments or medications - something I've had issues with before at other vet offices. My biggest complaint is the smell. I realize that a vet's office isn't going to smell like roses, but the stench of pet urine in the waiting room is almost unbearable. The exam rooms are clean and sanitary, and the waiting room seemed tidy and clean, but I wish they could do something about the horrible odor. If this place hadn't come highly recommended, I would have turned around and left.

It was a mostly enjoyable off-season stay at this Bed & Breakfast, but I'm not sure I'll stay at Five Gables if I'm ever back in the area. The staff was friendly, providing us with wine glasses and helping us with dinner reservations, and we were within walking distance to everything in town. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable (so many pillows!), and the whirlpool bath was great, but the proximity of the heated indoor pool made the room excessively humid. There was coffee and tea available at all hours in a common room, which was nice, but having to cross the street for breakfast, and to find it was a cold "continental breakfast" of hard-boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt and muffins, was a disappointment, especially considering how much we were paying for the room. Nice enough place, but in my opinion not worth the price you're paying.
