What I learned since I resumed riding my road bike after a 2 year hiatus.

* Oh, my god those roads are still gorgeous [1]
* As much as I like the rides, I'm always sooo happy when it's over and my house is in sight.
* The randonneur dude (Huge build, tons of bags on the bike) is still climbing Tam at his slow steady pace.
* Mission Cycling is still the sexiest club (cycling or not) on 18th st.
* MC Week-end rides are still a bit of surprise ("You go left, I go right - see ya")
* It seems there are way more ladies riding. (good thing).
* Blazing saddles on the GGB, they are so many (good thing too, a little bit hazardous sometimes though).
* The elderly bikini runner in Sausalito is still there.
* There seems to be a lot more Rapha gear out there. (Not surprising this stuff is good).

Some sendgrid Parse api woes:

Hoping someone googling for these encoding issues in their posted data, would find this helpful. You are not alone.

Toy gun buy back?

I think it's just weird. Ban the real ones, oh yeah, but don't remove toys that boys and girls love, and clearly are not the reason for shootings. Every single country has kids who play with toy guns, even if it's just a stick, or pointy fingers, and those countries have little to no shootings.

USA: Face up to your real problems.

better illustration for earlier post:

Trajectories:
- red: me
- blue: normal front traffic going straight
- green: what I would expect front traffic vehicles turning left would do
- purple: what actually happened

Only in San Francisco
Photo

I had a hell of a commute this morning (front derailleur cable snapped, unannounced road constructions on a downhill, usual distracted drivers...), and the intersection at potrero Ave and 17th.

Please help me, what does the law say? I'm east bound on 17th and I want to turn left in the bike lane of Potrero Ave. So I'm waiting for the front traffic to clear, but most often than not a car turning left on potrero will just pass on my right, drive on the wrong side of the road/ped xing, as if everything is normal.

I know in CA people or not used to this kind of crossing, so I tend to avoid it, especially in car. But here I'm on a bike, this is a 3x3 lanes (outermost lane being the bike lanes). Why don't people use their brain? pass me and then turn. Is it unlawful?
