I haven't spent much time working with Ruby, but I thought it was about time to start. There are a LOT of resources out there (Codecademy, for example) to help you learn Ruby, but this is the one I'm currently using, and so far I'm liking it a lot better than many of the tutorials I've come across in the past. (Including a couple of books I've purchased on the subject.) It starts from the very beginning (installing Ruby and working with PowerShell/Bash/Whatever you Mac people use) and works its way through in very quick, clear steps. Definitely would recommend it to anyone who's looking to learn Ruby the right way.

As I understand it, there are several "books" in this series for several other programming languages. Python will probably be my next step.

If you haven't seen this yet, give it a try! It's easily the most awesome voice program I've seen to date, and it's free! The community is great, and they're constantly adding features. I love it! If you do download it (or have it already), feel free to add me: Cynapse#0219

Time to get back into League of Legends. Heroes of the Storm has been fun, but every time they add a new hero, the game is basically broken, making it not particularly fun to play. LoL has changed a LOT since I last played--it's almost entirely different now--so I'm looking forward to learning it all over again. My trip to PAX this weekend has a lot to do with this decision, too.

You know what really grinds my gears? Players cry about not having fuckall to do for the last year of every expansion now, and have for the last two or three expansions. Well, I don't remember ANYONE in Classic complaining that they didn't have anything to do before BC came out. Since then, raids have gotten easier and easier (or "accessible" if you prefer), and people have spent more and more time sitting around town pulling pud before new content came out. Did it ever maybe occur to anyone that raids being hard might be a GOOD thing? Epics used to be HARD to get. You had to invest a non-trivial amount of time to either craft them (which, back then, was worth the time investment to farm the mats--now, not so much) or you actually had to plow through raid progression at a snail's pace and hope for just ONE drop each week, if you were lucky. Now you can spend a few hours soloing and be almost fully epic'd out. That slower and more brutal progression path gave us things to do. Isn't that the whole point? Maybe "accessibility" isn't what it's cracked up to be.

Going to do a hangout a little later to stream Heroes of the Storm alpha game play if anyone is interested.

I got a new snowboard last weekend, so of course it's been too cold to hit the mountain all goddamn week. I'd  been planning for a couple weeks to go this weekend, and it's supposed to be -15°F tomorrow. FML. Might be able to swing Sunday, though!

Tinkering with building an Armory powered WordPress theme. The primary draw (in theory, at the moment) would be character support in the comments similar to what you'd see on the official WoW site--like class-colored names with armory links and character avatars, and of course built-in spell/item tooltips.

So far, development is going slowly but steadily. Not sure yet if I'll pursue the project to completion, but for now it's at least fun to tinker with. I foresee the primary issue being smooth Armory API integration, which I've played with briefly for other projects, but nothing on this kind of scale.

At the moment, the graphical aspects of the theme aren't set in stone. Or, I should say, the background image isn't and the header definitely isn't (they're placeholders), but the main body graphics (which match the official site) will make it into the final product, since the whole idea is to match the Armory for the most part.

If I were to finish up development on the theme (or perhaps a suite of themes with Armory support), would it be something you'd be interested in using?
