What better way to appreciate the planet on which we live than to look out at the stars and wonder... what if?

I recently learned some fancy new post-processing techniques and retooled this image I shot last year.  It was taken at approximately 1:30 AM on the northeast corner of Mt. Rainier.

Sunkist Sunrise - Mt. Rainier

Stomach growling, fingers turning black from the cold and ready to fall off, ears stinging, and a temperamental focus button.

The view makes it all worth while. Captured in Covington, WA this Sunday morning.

Well, it's taken a while but it is finally complete! My 1:75 scale replica of the Space Needle is finished. Made entirely from cardboard (corrugated) and completely interlocking with no glue necessary. Those of you who know me personally know that I work in the packaging business as a structural designer. Every now and then a project comes along that makes me say, "Wait... what? You want what?" This is one of them. I designed this for a local brewery who will go unnamed for now. It is to be a part of a display. We have two versions for them and this is the exotic model. It stands 8ft tall to the top of the arial beacon. No, there is no working elevator but maybe soon I will place a Seahawk 12 flag on the top.

Another image from my visit to the Japanese Garden in Seattle, WA. Lots of people were clamoring to get "the shot". I decided to get some shots that actually include people as opposed to waiting... and waiting to capture an image sans people. Hey, if you can't beat them, might as well photograph them.

Path to Enlightenment | Japanese Garden, Seattle, WA

Another image taken over the weekend inside the Japanese Garden here in Seattle. It was pretty hard to get an image without people but my patience paid off... for the most part. No tripods allowed for the general public otherwise I would have set up for "people removal" script in PS.

Japanese Garden | Seattle Arboretum

Went to the Japanese Garden yesterday in the Arboretum. The Fall foliage was beyond stunning. This is one of the more popular Japanese maple trees just beyond the entrance to the garden. The light was coming from the left and lighting up the leaves with a fire of color. Best viewed full screen.

Time laps video of the "epic storm of the century" that never really happened. Taken with the GoPro 5 Hero Black in Time Lapse video mode while taking one frame every two seconds. Basically, one minute of video equals one hour of lapsed time. This is looking directly east out the window of my house. I'm thankful the 70+ MPH wind did not show because I don't want to have to rebuild that fence!

Tree on Fire | Kubota Gardens, Seattle

Well, so much for more foliage photography this weekend. With the impending storm coming in tonight with 70+ MPH winds I wouldn't be surprised if this tree was stripped clean of leaves by tomorrow. Same goes for every other tree. Oh well... next year.
