Basic Information
DO NOT APPLY TO THESE APARTMENTS. These folks are not honest. We sold our home and needed a place to live for a couple of months. They told us they could offer us a month-to-month option after a three month lease. We applied and were charged two $35 application fees and a $200 holding fee. They specifically said that the application fees were not refundable. They did not say that the holding fee was not refundable. Before we were even approved, Hunter emailed me back saying that they could only offer month-to-month after a five month lease period. I told him we were no longer interested in pursuing the lease. They would not refund my $200 deposit because they said they used it to take the apartment off the market. Apparently on page three of an online contract they disclose that this is a non-refundable fee. Apparently in the 48 hours from the time I applied to the time I told them we were no longer interested they "took it off the market". Was this legal? Probably, although it shouldn't be. Was it deceptive and shady? Absolutely. Avoid. You can't trust these folks, they are not upfront and would rather make money on folks than have a good reputation.
