It’s not about muscles, fitting in your clothes or appearing more attractive to other people, it’s about feeling comfortable in your own body, being in control of it and being able to enjoy it. That’s what fitness is all about, and it’s not just about gaining or losing weight, or meeting whatever the latest beauty standard is these days. It’s not a passing fancy and it has no age restrictions where at some point it’s ok to stop caring, it’s about you and how you feel, and whatever shape you are in is irrelevant as long as it’s the shape that suits your needs and the shape you are happy with. You’ve got to be completely honest with yourself, though: is this the body you chose to have or is this the body you ended up having?
There is no better time than now to make a change; there is no better time than now to start working towards what’s worth having: freedom of movement, complete control and empowerment. You earn it, you sweat for it and, as long as your reasons are right, you endure. The discomfort doesn’t last, but the feeling of satisfaction with yourself and confidence in your own strength do and that’s what makes it truly worth it.
