I went to Lauren's three times this summer before writing this review. Its never been fantastic - but today took the cake for bad trips to the nail salon. I went with a girlfriend. There were seven employees in the room but only three customers. I asked for a gel manicure and regular pedicure and they immediately seated me and started the pedicure. My friend asked for a manicure and a 10 minute massage. After her manicure was complete the manicurist set her at the drying station and went to wax another customer. The four women who had no customers sat in the manicure area eating and talking. Almost 15 minutes later the manicurist came out of the waxing area and yelled to the group of young women. A lot of conversation took place, and eventually, the one older employee on duty got into the debate and seemd to have some authority. One of the girls put her food aside, apologized for the wait, and asked my friend if she still wanted the massage (how relaxing is that?). At the same time the girl who did my pedicure (very well) walked me over to where the other girls were eating. She said to them - gel manicure please. Two girls walked away and the one remaining girl looked at us and continued eating. The pedicurist repeated - gel manicure please. The other girl threw out her apple core and walked to the sink. I asked the pedicurist if she could do it and she said no, and she seemed genuinely sorry. I stood there literally wondering if this was really happening - while the girl who was apparently the only one in the place who could do a gel manicure would not look at me. I was pretty frustrated and told the pedicurist I would go ahead and skip the manicure. I paid for my pedicure while the girls continued to mill around the room without customers or apparently anything to do. Im not at all sure what was happening at Laurens today - but I can tell you I will never, ever waste my time on them again.
