What are everyone's thoughts on Alignments as an active game mechanic in RPGs?

Just wanted to see what you folks out there thought!

Hey, everyone!

Life has been busy for +Travis Casey and I, so I apologize for the lack of posts in the group lately. However, expect to start seeing lots of new posts over the coming weeks.

Travis and I have been working on several different concepts and projects for the last few months, and are planning to take one of them on the road! Our working title for a zombie rpg we are actually going to be playtesting at GenCon this year is Project Affliction. We have 4 sessions planned, and all but one (our Thursday afternoon session) have filled up. So feel free to grab a ticket and stop by! If there is a session you'd be interested in joining that has already filled, we might be able to squeeze in an extra player for two if you bring some generic tickets.

As for Project Affliction itself, it will be using a fairly modified version of the Effects Engine. We're pretty excited, as our playtest sessions around town have been pretty well received so far.

In any case, keep an eye out for new posts in the coming days!

Keep gaming, everyone!

Hello, everyone!

Has anyone had the chance to read, and possibly run, The Slavers of Mareshdale module? If so, what did you think?

Hello, everyone!

Greetings, Ebon Gryphon fans! We haven't posted in a while, so we thought we'd give an update on what we've been up to so far this year.

Work on The Slavers of Mareshdale module for The Monsters & Magic RPG is almost complete! We're just getting our last pieces of art and inserting them into the final draft. We should this have this out before the end of February! Expect another update about this very soon!

In the last few weeks, we've also begun working in earnest on a new zombie-survival rpg that will be utilizing the Effects Engine system. In fact, we've gotten enough done that we're actually in our second week of Alpha-stage playtesting. We'll be sure to keep you informed of our progress in the coming weeks!

Lastly, thank you all again for you continued support - we do appreciate it! Keep your eyes peeled, as we'll have many more exciting announcements over the next few months!

Greetings all!

I just thought I'd let you know what Travis and I have been up to of late. Currently, we're still waiting for a bit of input from our playtesters regarding The Slavers of Mareshdale module, in addition to a bit of art Hopefully, we'll have this joker out before the New Year. We've also started converting this module to Fate Core.

Additionally, we have created four new PC classes:

- Blood Ravager: this is a Fighter Sub-Class that gets more powerful the more they can make their enemies bleed. We were inspired by the Reaver class in Dragon Age: Inquistion multiplayer.

- Cantor: this is a standalone class that uses song magic, by way of singing canticles, but also has other faith-based abilities. While the concept originally began as a blend of Bard and Paladin, it stands on its own two feet as something new - given that the class has a great deal devoted to making them great heralds or message-bearers

- Provocateur: this is a Thief Sub-Class geared completely towards infiltration and finesse. As we are both fans of spies, we thought we'd build a class that could talk, sneak, or gadget their way past obstacles, but could also hold their own in a fight.

- Trump Artist: this is a Magic User Heroic Class that allows the focusing of magic through sketches and other trump items at higher levels. We drew our inspiration from Zelazny's Amber series.

Now you might be asking what a Heroic Class is. Travis and I had flirted with the concept in the Aperita Arcana, specifically with the Enchanter class, although one could take that class at first level. Our idea is that a Heroic Class can't be multi-classed into until a character reaches level 5 (heroic scale). While a Heroic Class might be a sub-class of another class (like our Trump Artist is to Magic User), a character does not have to have previous levels in said class in order to take a Heroic Class. That being said, a character who only had levels in Ranger (Fighter Sub-Class) will not be as good at being a Trump Artist as a Blood Mage (Magic User Sub-Class) would, due to the effectiveness of the Trump Artist's abilities being dependent upon total Magic User levels.

Lastly, we are working on a few other projects, but none that are terribly close to completion at the moment.

We will keep you all updated as we get closer to releasing new material.

Thanks for reading!

Just a quick update for everyone. We have been working on our first module for the Monsters & Magic system, and are happy to report that we are currently in the playtesting stage.

Hopefully, we'll have this product out in the next month or so!

Hey everyone! Just a quick question for those of you who have checked out the Revised and Expanded edition of the Collectanea Creaturae for Fate Core. What do you think of the new formatting, changes, and additions?

I figured I'd ask directly as folks aren't likely to review the whole thing again and post it. :-P

Hey all! Just a quick announcement. Travis is currently getting the cover formatted for the Collectanea Creaturae for Fate Core: Expanded and Revised Edition. I just went over the final final draft for errors, so hopefully the PDF will be online sometime later today! :-)
