Flying with United - after so many bash messages and so much negative publicity - I needed to move my flight to Kansas City for one week. In Europe they would have said "not refundable", "not changeable", even with SWISS business saver tickers "You cannot change them".
I had a United Business flight to MCI return at a very cheap saver fare (P/P) (which they call "United First") and I shifted it to a week later. They assessed my paid price for the ticket and put it in relation to the price of the new ticket on my selected period. It was cheaper, so their change fee essentially was paid by the ticket being less expensive.

At the end I paid $20 for the change.
The bad part is - the $180 price advantage I got via a United voucher. But that is fine as I will fly soon again with them.

Rebooking rules are way more flexible in the US if you do not go to the no frills discount airlines.

SWISS left me on the ground stating that a $1,100 fare business from London to ZRH was not changeable at it was a "saver business ticket" - a very rude callcenter woman shouted at me that I SHOULD READ THE TICKET CONDITIONS! and then she just ended the call!. At the end I lost the money and booked another fligfht for $270 in economy - with the clenched fist in my pocket. I needed to take an earlier flight because of job duties.

Never +Swiss International Air Lines again. After the nightmare a year ago with a seating designed for kids and slim people - I have only disgust for SWISS. The pure fact that a $1,100 ticket marketed as "saver" could be "not changeable" is something in Europe the European airlines seem to have managed to be accepted by the customers. It is just fraud. Plain and simple.

Ah yes to finish the United story: My lost luggage was delivered the day after. They sent my forgotten luggage via Lufthansa from Berlin TXL (where it seems to have fallen off the conveyor belt system) fo Frankfurt FRA and put it into an United Airlines freight flight io Newark and I had a mail status update telling me that. Catch that European Airlines!

Music for tonight. I got an old new stock Ortofon naked diamond replacement stylus. Stereo separation is awesome and extremely low noise.

The phenomenon of "Helicopter Parents everywhere" in Germany. A 2 years old report of rather low quality private TV channel has some insights. Parents do not allow their children to play outside any more despite the danger of getting in violence or at a molestor orders of magnitude smaller than 1970.
Only 1/4 of the children are still playing outside without constant supervision, all others are only indoor with their parents.
Another report I saw stated that "You have to plan the carreer in primary school age" - which means complete supervision and even selection which friends the kid is allowed to have with a constant asking and syncing where the child wants to go.

Terrible. I broke one leg at the age of 10. So what? Learned that I should not jump down three meters from a wall.... I burned my fingers on the hot plate. I had some injuries falling through a glass door while running. Shit happens, and a certail risk is always. Teaching kids that they must fear anything will transform them to weak kids. Perhaps this is the reason for the ongoing move to more and more public surveillance. Because the younger generation is just weak.

Dark clouds over Germany. I do not recognize the people any more I lived with a decade ago.

In a representative poll, 60 percent of Germans think that politics in Germany is concentrating too much on trade offs and agreements, but strong political leaders were needed, who define the lines and enforce them with assertiveness. A majority of those 60 percent also want less respect with other nations.

For me that sounds like the majority of Germans prefer to go back in time to have a society and system basing itself on defense, power, fighting and strength - diplomacy seems to be not regarded as important any more.

Citations (in German) from the linked article:

"60 Prozent meinen, es werde in Deutschland zu sehr auf Kompromisse gesetzt; notwendig seien starke politische Führungsfiguren, die eine klare Richtung vorgeben und sich durchsetzen. "
"Die Mehrheit derer, die sich mehr politische Führungsstärke wünschen, fordert zudem weniger Rücksichtnahme auf andere Länder."

State after 12 months of US. From No credit history to all three > 730.
From $0 credit to > $30,000.

Not bad. Gaming the system has been somewhat successful so far.
T-Mobile didn't even do a hard inquiry for my postpaid contract, the soft one was sufficient.

Some short term loans of a credit union helped a lot. And made me slowly understand how the algorithm works. I tried in all dimensions to be bad or good to see the result on the score. I played with paying 3 days too late and with opening a new accounts. So I could be better with all the experience but still it is nice to get behind the algorithm.

My music for tonight. Old but fine!
Dear kids, no, this has not been written and composed for Guardians of the Galaxy! Mr Blue Sky is from 1977! [1]

And yes, Jeff Lynne and ELO are awesome.

[1] Kudos to those movie makers to bring back the great songs of the past to the youth. I must recognize it!

Nothing new on this side on the pond. And whites behave even in NYC strictly alongside white only lines. Complaining immediately when the city sends some other kids in their pure white neighborhood school and making kids only with whites and putting money together already as marriage family planning to plan mortgages as early as possible. That is white lifestyle and they think they were superior.
In NYC racism is just hidden as everyone pretends to be so open and so diverse. But whites still remain strictly under themselves and live that life between banks, realtors, Bo's Bagels, Starbucks and other boring places.
I saw more interacial couples in Macon GA, Austin TX and Kansas City MO/KS than in NYC.
