How can you further improve your landscaping and gardening efforts?

Hardscape gardening is one of the more creative ways you can add individuality and new themes to your lawn. If you can find a landscaper able to handle this for you, it's one of the best ways to fuse art and gardening for curb appeal and added housing value.

It's one of the newer features we've initiated for our clients, and we are excited to see how local homeowners in the La Canada area will be able to make use of this.

We've seen plenty of great ideas, and often times, these hardscape gardening ideas add additional usage for the plants that surround them. It's not terribly difficult to create a hardscape landscape that provides benefits or shelter for plants more vulnerable to the environmental conditions.

Have you ever had some decorative hardscaping ideas for your garden? If so, give Special Tree Service a call!

Landlords in the Glendale area would benefit greatly from hiring a consistent tree service and landscaping company to touch up on the general aesthetic of apartment complexes.

It's been proven before that psychology makes people believe an area is nicer when it is green and full of plant life. There will always be competition for your housing, but this is an easy way to add new value to your complex without major cost or construction!

Regular upkeep doesn't take much, and we would likely only need to be by once every two weeks, or once a month depending on how many plants there are, and how much ground they cover.

Looking into a consistent tree service is a solid investment opportunity, and will add a unique landscaping dynamic to your area.

When should you request a tree removal service?

Sometimes we run into complications that require us to request a tree removal, as trees are not mobile things, and there are few other ways to work around these problems.

One example of when you might need tree removal is if your tree has become diseased and runs the risk of infecting nearby trees. By this point the tree is far too dead to recover by chance.

Another time a tree removal might be required is if you have two trees planted too close to each other, and both have become a hazard. In these situations they could become entangled, drain nutrients from each other, or rub together and potentially cause a minor fire in the heat.

Regardless, it's always important to note that a tree removal should be a last resort option when possible. Once consulted, we will listen to your problem and dispense our advice based off of years of tree service and landscaping work around the Burbank area.

Following up on yesterday's post about saving a tree, and tree removal, today we want to go over how you can tell when it's time to officially call it quits on your tree.

If you're still unsure about your options, or if your valiant tree saving mission will be in vain, here are some tips to narrow down those answers quickly.

Knowing your tree is everything. For instance, let's say your tree is from a species that tends to chip more often and become fragile with age, and it has damage covering a majority of the tree already, you've noticed fungus growth, and the tree seems to be steadily leaning.

In this situation, sadly your tree won't be able to pull through after all.
However, if you have a typically healthy species that stays resilient throughout its life with maybe a quarter damage, a trunk not yet hollowed, only smaller branches showing sudden death and decay, and an open space for it to grow out of, you can easily turn it around.

The factors deciding whether to let it live or have it removed are unfortunately out of your control more often than not, but knowing when you can save your tree is still worth the research for those lucky occasions.

Since #Spring is upon us, we're caught between an odd blend of cold weather and hot weather. What exactly does this mean for your trees and plants and their watering patterns?

All it means is that you have to pay attention to your soil. The belief that your plants need more water in the heat is incorrect.

Trees and your lawn alike have a set amount of water they require every day, and after that need is met, any further watering is a hazard. Some may feel concerned that heat would cause water to evaporate to some degree, but once it's in the soil, your tree or lawn has already begun accessing it.

Every plant has different needs, and part of proper gardening is learning what trees and other greenery require to survive. The method being used to water is also a major factor in determining how effective the watering is.

Trees and lawns require water to penetrate around 1 inch into its soil to allow their roots to receive the full benefits and nutrients. If you are experiencing any issue with your lawn or garden, make sure to keep the friendly and experienced professionals here at Special Tree Service in mind!

Sometimes the biggest threats to your gardens and plants are entirely organic.

It's common to think bugs crawling around on your plants is a good thing, and that they are playing some role to further assist growth cycles or production, however, many of them are actually just helping themselves to a meal.

Nobody has time to set there and individually pick these bugs up off their plants of course, so luckily there is an easier way.

Many stores such as Home Depot offer special chalks or repellents you can place around your plants and trees to ward off insects.

These typically contain some form of poison harmful to your plants as well, so it's vital to position them far enough away.

There are noticeable warning signs even if you don't actually see the bugs themselves.

Make sure to carefully check the leaves or stems of various plants. They almost always leave marks a skilled gardener or landscaper can trace.

Watering your plants and trees always requires a form of consistency and planning. Don't leave it to random patterns or chance!

This is a list of the conditions that need to be met when you're planning how to layout your sprinklers across your lawn.

The most crucial points to meet are exact amounts of water, along with spatial and timing needs. Make sure they are watering when they need to and can be controlled with a linked battery.

It all sounds like a lot of work at first, but this will save you a lot of time and worry in the long run.

Allowing your lawn to run fully automated lets us focus on other areas of improvement when we dedicate our time to your lawn and plants.

Yes, we realize we are a local tree service, and part of our job is removing or cutting down trees.

However, we typically advise clients to only cut down trees when necessary, since your trees are providing benefits you might not be aware of.

Some of these lean towards being obvious, but other benefits are things that might have been forgotten about as we trudge around Burbank increasingly hot weather as spring is near.

Trees provide cooling effects while shielding us from UV, which is crucial in the summer.

One way to use tree services is to maximize that positive effect while using the tree to add to your property values.

We've seen some pretty nice gardens around the La Canada Flintridge area, so we have to assume at least a couple gardeners are in the area.

Trees are what prevents soil erosion and water pollution, allowing gardens to continue growing.

You can of course grow without trees, but it's much harder, and requires more input on our end.

Don't get us wrong, we appreciate your business, but feel obligated to remind you that to a degree, you're making it harder and more expensive on yourself.
