Make no mistake - your martyrdom is a fantasy born of fear.

Taking on extra responsibility makes you no better than anyone else. Do it out of love or skip it.

Lilah's fantastic Huffpo article on sperm donor rights!
No matter where you live, the informal, friendly, at-home donation method is a bad idea. The casual use of a friend's sperm almost always leads to unwanted legal consequences.

I just published an article at HuffPost! This one is about an Amicus brief my law firm just signed in the DOMA case going before the US Supreme Court this spring. (Obviously, we're for overturning DOMA).

Here's Alison again with another fantastic blog article.  This one on the topic of joint custody agreements.  It's always the best option to amicably create a custody arrangement with your co-parent.  Trust us, the kids do better when the parents get along!
We can bottom line this one for you quickly: A written joint custody agreement helps your children because they know what to expect.

Robert, if you read this, all I want is for you to finish the job. I paid in full - please do your part. If you do so, I’m happy to remove this review. Here’s the frustrating backstory: Robert installed an aluminum and glass garage door for the front of our living room. It was rather expensive, which was okay because we wanted it to look good. Robert was easy to schedule and very polite at first. The problems began when he started working. First, he drilled the wrong side of one of the panels. So now we have a hole on the outside of what is essentially our living room wall. He promised to replace that panel but never did. Next, he neglected to bring along any of the rubber insulating components for the edge of the door. This is a particularly important part of the job, since the door opens into our living room. We need the insulation. Robert promised to return the next day to finish that step - arguably the easiest part of the whole job - but of course he never did that either. I paid Robert in full trusting that he would be back within the week like he promised. He never returned, and he stopped responding to messages. I’m not sure what’s so hard about installing rubber insulation stripping, but it’s a major roadblock in our case. I have called and emailed more times that I can count. No response. Finally I used a number that he hadn’t seen before to text him, and he got right back to me. As soon as he realized who I was, he began to ignore that number as well. ALL I WANT IS THE INSULATION! Robert, seriously man, this is the easiest thing in the world. Just install the rubber bits and go away. I’m not even asking you to replace the panel you drilled. It’s cold and rainy, and my living room is drafty because you can’t finish this job. Just follow through please.

There is a very strong chemical smell to the rooms at this place. We left after a couple of hours with soar throats and burning eyes. Tried another room, but same problem. The manager refused a refund. We also found urine splatters all around the toilet. Overall pretty disgusting place. Definitely avoid. There are lots of alternatives in the area.
