Heed the Message, World!
Like a mantra, it's something that I can't stop repeating:   An i nvestment in women is an investment for everyone. If you don't believe in gender equity, then you don't believe in progress or prosperity. Perpetuating a model that suits the 1% is not a sust...

Hey Ladies!
I am such a sucker for these things. This video, sharing stories and depictions of women throughout 2013, has all the messages I aspire to support and promote--women who are powerful, provocative, courageous, bold. Then it projects everything that destabili...

Sometimes It's Best to Say Nothing at All
Wow, it's been awhile. Too long for my preference, but occasionally life and work intervene and swallow me whole. It's not a complaint. It's just kept me from writing about all these observations I've made and stories I've seen over the past few months, cul...

Did I read that right?
Ok, I admit it--I am a sucker for reading dreary, depressing, and sad news, events, history, movies, songs, etc. I am drawn to the dark side. I default to a state of cynicism and jadedness.  Period.   I'm not going to break down the reasons why I have this ...

What is my impact on this world?
Introduction
I've always been interested in working internationally, and so I did. I've spent the last 12 years working on international development programs throughout Eastern and Central Europe and the Middle East. I'm now working at the University of Michigan's School of Public Health at the Global Public Initiative. It's given me the inspiration I've been looking for in my career. Global work is not only across the U.S. borders. It includes all. I've been searching to combine all my areas of interest--political, economic, social, cultural, health--into a specific goal. And now that goal is to empower women across the globe.
Bragging rights
I've traveled and worked in over 30 countries, and I only strive to increase that number. I hope to be able to do so not just professionally, but with my husband Ryan and my two little blondinis--Naomi and Gabe.
