On This Day: In 1519 Hernán Cortés landed in Mexico to begin his conquest of the Aztec Empire (as well as other indigenous nations) and to continue his search for gold. The conquest was declared victorious on August 13, 1521. Over the course of the 3 years, Spanish forces killed over 300,000 indigenous people as they marched from the coast to present-day Mexico City. This is a painting by Emanuel Leutze on the Storming of the Teocalli by Cortez and His Troops.

If you are into herbs and herbal remedies, this is a great opportunity to put together a budget-friendly library with resources on remedies from herbs, trees, and roses, making salves, using oils, and more.

We are actively seeking photos of contemporary indigenous mothers nursing their babies, so that we can update our webpage with real Native moms parenting their children the original way. If you are interested in sharing a few photos with us, you can mail a short consent for use and the photo to nativemothering@gmail.com Our website is a dedicated volunteer effort, no money will be made from the website articles. Please consider helping out your Native mothers and families with a show of your support!
