Having moved to the US, I was hoping to find a curry house which offered authentic Indian food, Spice Bistro delivered above my expectations. I was not expecting to see authentic desserts/sweets on the menu, so I was very pleased with this. I always order vegetable curry, so I know a good one when I have it - this one was delicious, with fresh vegetables and just the right amount of spice. My partner had a chicken curry and they catered to her needs for it to be of a very very mild heat (the chicken was lovely.) The service was excellent (having the owner check on us that we had already had our orders put in was a nice and appreciated touch), also the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere - we went on a busy Saturday night, though it still felt intimate, with some nice music being played live by the in house guitarist. Being able to then have a real Indian sweet to finish the meal was a huge bonus for me. My partner had never been to an Indian restaurant and does not like curry typically, though even she enjoyed the meal and the night there on the whole. Overall, a great night and looking forward to dining out here again.

We went here on 6/4/14 at 2:00 in the afternoon. As we walked in, there was a greeting counter with no-one there. We stood there for 3-4 minutes and decided to just make our way into the restaurant. (Sidenote: there is a glass office to the side that someone was in and another person walked into and just ignored us as well - not sure if it's really part of this establishment or not.) Walking in, we were greeted by the bar tender. We asked if we seat ourselves and she said to just sit anywhere. She was pleasant enough. The room was large and the atmosphere was great. Beautiful restaurant. It looked clean. We sat over to one side. She had asked if wanted the buffet or menus. We said menus but we walked by the buffet on our way to our table just to see it. The food looked like it had been there a while and we were glad we got the menu choice. (or so we thought) To make a long story short, there was ONE person serving all the tables that were there. Although it looked "slower", there were 6-9 different tables she was trying to wait on. (I believe her name was Heather.) It took us forever to actually be served and once we got our drinks, the food took over 45 minutes to come out. We finally just asked for the food to go (this was before it even came out) - we simply didn't have all afternoon to wait. This was lunchtime. Most people would get an HOUR for lunch. We were in the restaurant for OVER an hour. Needless to say, we were VERY disappointed. Especially due to how nice the place looked. The food was good once we got it home. We really enjoy Indian food and if the speed was better, might actually try this place again. The meal was a little over $40.00 for the two of us. A LITTLE high but not unreasonable by any means. I think a large part of the problem is the "seat yourself" mentality. If Heather (or ANYONE) would have sat people as they walked in, they could have clumped everyone together to one side of the restaurant and helped out the poor server from having to literally go to every corner of the place. And, whoever the manager is, shame on you for having ONE server there. She was getting orders, running them to the tables, taking tickets and money as well as the incidentals of "can you get me an extra ....". And, on top of it all, she was BAR-TENDING! There were 2 or 3 guys at the bar that required her attention as well.

Loved the food especially their À la carte is as Authentic as it gets outside India especially when you ask for Hot Spice level (They offer medium and mild on their Biryani). The Staff were polite and good and the food was served really fast. The food is really fresh and definitely the best Indian food I had in SLC. The only downside here for me is the lack of South Indian food on their menu. However what they do serve is really tasty and made me miss home.

I went to Spice for a business lunch. We were greeted by the owner who walked us back to the beautiful dining area. She was very sweet and treated us with the utmost kindness. She recommended a few different options and sold us on the buffet. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. It was nice to try several different things at once. If the buffet was that tasty, I can only imagine what their regular entrees taste like. Excited to go back!

So GOOD!!! Had dinner and ordered the Aloo Gobi, and Vegetable Masala... BOTH WERE EXCELLENT as well as the Nan and Samosa's! Besides having great food the prices didn't hurt either! Thanks Spice Bistro! So glad to have such a great restaurant in my neighborhood.
