The Brief: show me something my competitors can't/won't do. Another great example of how Red Bull creates relevance through content/culture/entertainment versus media spend. Is it a bit of a lark & "because they can" execution? Yes, it is. Still glad they shared.

First off, that IS awesome.  Second, was the brief seriously, "do something our competition can't/won't do"?  I ask because I see a big difference between "can't" and "won't".

Totally agree with this article, but not b/c of the headline. The premise I support is that most agencies and in-house IT aren't amazing "Product" guys to the standard of those here in the Valley putting out the blockbuster hits. And if you're not going to be the app everyone needs or wants, then you need to find a way to fit and become better discovered by the developers that are winning--which is where APIs come into play. I now have over 150 of us Mark Silvas in a "Mark Silva" circle. That's a lot of connections through one commonality--our name. Wouldn't it be interesting to view the world through that lens? I wonder how many people we know in common that aren't celebrities? I'll bet there are a number of us that live nearby but have never met. Think we'll have brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters with similar names? Through the lens of our primary identity we can see many aspects of ourselves as one and as One. I'm going to reach out to some friends at Google to see about exploring these themes and at a minimum, hosting a large, worldwide hangout w/some translation support. Looking forward.
