Most of the mountainssystems run east to west throughout the country. However, running through the central part of the country are the Fergana Mountains, which actually extend in a southeast to northwest direction. Most of the country is covered in glaciers and everlasting snow fields, but there are a few notable low- land areas such as the Chu Valley to the north and the tropical Fergana Valley to the west.

Kyrgyzstan is virtually a land of mountains. More than fifty per cent of the country exists at elevations higher than eight hundred feet. Kyrgyzstan is situated in an area of Central Asia in between the Tian-Shan Mountains and the Pamir Mountains-- the two most massive mountain ranges in Central Asia.

The largest river in the country, the Naryn River, flows down from the northeastern mountains, passes through the lush Fergana Valley, and then enters Uzbekistan. In Uzbekistan the Naryn River joins with another river, forming the Syr Darya, one of the principal rivers of Central Asia.

Among the peaks of the Tian-Shan Mountain system in the region of Kyrgyzstan is Victory Peak, also known in Russian as Pik Pobedy, and in the language of the Kyrgyz as Jenish Chokosu.

Next comes a visit to Issyk Kul lake, the second largest alpine lake in the world (after Titicaca) and the second largest saline lake (after the Caspian Sea) in the world also before a night in the capital Bishkek rounds off this trip to incredible Kyrgyzstan nicely.
