I am a regular - about every two months or so - to Joseph's, so I appreciate the ebb and flow that occurs with customer service, wait times, etc as staff changes. The food and the mission of Joseph's is why I continue to return. Today I arrived and was in a line of about 12-15 customers ... with only one register open. A short time later, a second register opened. Total time to place my order - club sandwich, potato salad and a cup of tomato basil soup - was about 10 minutes. It appears that they have a new POS and it takes much longer to process a single order. The time that I placed my order was 11:53. I filled my drink, picked up a roll and sat down. After some time, I stopped reading my book and looked around to see that most everyone that came in after me had already been served. At 12:18 I approached the counter to ask for a refund as I had waited 25 minutes to be served and needed to return to work. The cashier checked with the kitchen and I was told that my meal would be out shortly. I again asked for a refund as I could not wait any longer. The cashier began to process a refund when my order arrived. After being unable to refund my credit card, she gave me cash instead. I sent an email to the ownership, titled it, "Anomaly ... but you should know" with the exact information above. I received the following response: "The POS had nothing to do with the poor service and making food in kitchen - do you sell POS systems & want us to switch to yours??? We will fix the service. Thanks" I guess I'll be a regular customer somewhere else.

Pot Pie, Potato Soup, Chocolate Fudge Cupcakes, Very friendly staff. If you haven't eaten here it's very much worth a try. Great food!

Sandwich was good. Bread could have been better a little dry for my taste and was pricey for what it was. Sweets are bettter and priced better.

Mixed up my order. Huevos Rancheros- no beans (unusual for SA), they didn't drain salsa on burrito made tortilla soggy and fall apart after two bites. Didn't try bakery items. Will give another chance but so far NOT impressed.

Yesterday I had the Chicken Salad Sandwich on fresh whole wheat bread and it was excellent. I chose Potato soup which also was very good. I've been here several times and never disappointed. The owner takes your order behind the counter and is always friendly and provides fast service. I usually bypass the bakery items to avoid the extra calories, but did take a cinnamon pecan roll home, and it was excellent.

I recently visited with my mother and wife who ordered a turkey sandwich with sprouts because for whatever reason they were really craving a sandwich with sprouts. Upon receiving the meals we notices neither sandwich had sprouts, I proceeded to speak with our server and she stated "oh yeah that’s the best part right, we no longer include sprouts because of the e.coli connection in the past". Yes it was going to be the best part for my family so why weren't we informed I asked. She apologized, we ate and we left. Nothing special. Food was bland. I visited a second time only to purchase a piece of cake for my sister since they had a Voted Best Bakery in San Antonio banner hanging over the storefront. As I entered with another customer, the man behind the counter who seemed to possibly be the owner, greeted and chatted with the customer in front of me and thanked her for her business and assured her she would love the food as it was her first time visiting. As I approached he asked what he could get me, charged me and that was that, no thank you, no nothing. This has happened to me before, I don't know if its my young age or what else but so often it seems I don't get the same respect as older customers. What I don't understand is the judgment when you’re trying to gain business. I’m always courteous. I have a government career, have a degree, own a home, have no debt and could become a regular to many businesses but so often am turned away by the service I receive. I don't dress or speak in a disrespectful manner so believe it’s simply my age. Its their loss not mine. I was unsatisfied with the service I received on both occasions. I will never go back.

Simply the best bowl of potato soup ever! Superb desert and the best service in a long time. The owner is great and I question anyone who has written a negative review on this place. I will come back with my family!
