As an upscale Mexican restaurant, Frida Bistro hits the nail on the head! Nicely presented plates, creative ingredients, and an awesome selection of margaritas make this place worth your time. Visiting a friend who lives in SLC, this was our first dinner stop, per his recommendation. We started off with a round of apps - the Sopa Camote and Quesadilla de Pato My friend's sweet potato bisque was spot on, and nicely balanced by the habanero-infused sour cream lumped on top. My duck quesadilla was OOZING with goat cheese and accompanied by a delicious chili-mango marmalade in place of the typical salsa/guac sides. A pair of margaritas comprised the evening's beverages. For entrees, my buddy opted for the pollo poblano, literally DOUSED in sauce and I went for the Chuletitas a la Sangre Naranja. The chicken, while very flavorful, was very rich. My lamb (which is something I'll order whenever given the chance) was juicy and succulent, and served over fingerling potatoes with a delicious blood orange reduction. Portion sizes were fair, but again, the ingredients/accompaniments/garnishes are what really sets Frida Bistro apart from the typical quesadilla/empanada/fajitas Tex-Mex places I've grown accustomed to. Definitely a nice change of pace! P.S. There's a cool space out back but another group had it booked up for some corporate party. I'm not sure if this space is regularly available on a bar night, but it's worth investigating if you're already there. Entrance (or is it exit?) to this space is located near the restrooms.

This used to be my favorite Mexican fare in SLC. But our recent experience left all four of us desiring a change. #1 reason. They spiked their menu prices. What used to be a $12-14 dollar experience has jumped to $20 for same amount of food or less. Charging $3.50 for a bottle of coke. Charging $3.50 for a small cup of rice or beans. Then changing the menu to a choice of two small tacos or four small tacos. So four small tacos, $14, cup of beans, $3.50, bottle of Mexican coke, $3.50. $21 plus tip. Other diner ordered calamari appetizer, $12, and two small tacos, $7.50, and cup of beans(they never used to charge for the beans and rice, $3.50. $23 dollars plus tip. The food is still good but they've priced themselves out.

Decor was bright and fun, so much to look at and I found it actually entertaining. The service was fantastic despite the fact that I was there with a young child, this is not what I would consider a place typically catering to children. The food was beyond what I imagined. Beautiful, artistic and delicious was each and every item we ordered! I will definitely go back but with my girlfriends or husband next time! Thanks for the amazing experience.

Worst service and overpriced food. This is a wannabe high end Mexican Restaurant. You'll pay $20-$30 for a meal for Chili's caliber food. I ordered the pork stomach, and honestly the pork stomach at Eva downtown Salt Lake is much better. Our server ignored us the entire time, never refilled out glasses, when we asked another server for help, she responded with the most condescending tone. Never going there again.

They closed early after I called asking question about their menu... It was an hour early and they turned us away. Bad customer service if you ask me. Wonder why you guys don't get business

My party came here for dessert and we were all very happy. The prices are a bit high but the food tastes fresh and the service was very good. The patrons were also very nice and more interactive than many you will find at restaurants around Salt Lake. I will certainly be going back to try a variety of things from the menu and everyone at my table agreed that they would like to as well.

my wife and I went for dessert and drinks after a movie one night. The service was fine, nothing to write home about, and the dessert we had was pretty good as well. I can't really remember what it was, but it wasn't bad. Additionally I've had the chance to meet the owner and he is a super nice guy who has a great story about how he became successful with Frida. The problem I found with it was its pretension and all the Che Guevara crap all over the restaurant. Call me crazy, but I just didn't feel good about supporting the place given that.
