I stay at a ton of hotels and usually stick with the Hilton family. If you are used to the Doubletree brand worldwide, this hotel will certainly disappoint. It is an older hotel that they have recently put a Doubletree sticker on, without really making any changes. Old elevators, a disappointing pool, rusty electric outlets and old 'in the wall' style air conditioners are what you will find. We actually ended up changing hotels because it was so different from what we were expecting from a Doubletree. This is especially surprising when you consider all of the legitimate four star hotels steps away from this one. That being said, the staff were extremely friendly and did the best with what they had to work with. The location is great: right across the street from the beach. It's not a 'bad' place and nothing dramatically terrible happened to us; but if you are used to paying a small premium because you are used to what Doubletree has come to offer, do not expect it at this particular location. The warm cookie is about the only thing you will recognize from the other Doubletrees.

Very clean, nice service and the rooms are very welcoming. Walking distance to the beautiful beach and shopping areas! There is also a beautiful view of the beach. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Yes, it is bit dated. But it's in good condition. The pedestrian bridge to the beach is a big plus. Overall is a good place to stay. The location is a plus too!

What the f! Is wrong with these people?! We drove 1500 miles to see the beach, as a family of 5, and the room is not what we were told, it's not even suitable in size for us. We literally have a 15x13 room to share. The place is filthy. First we found blood stains on the skirts of the beds that the manager went to go check out. She basically told us we were lying about it but they "changed the sheets anyway" and called us when the room was ready. When we went to go see if it was cleaned- the skirt was still filthy. We asked the manager to come with and she had housekeeping come. We literally had to point the spot out (which was 2"x6") and then got some excuse about how the "housemen" were gone for the day and they would have to get security to come strip the bed. The second was alcoholic beverages or "drinks" in the small fridge. That's not ok for a famliy to walk in and find. So, they sent us away while they got security. Seperate thought here- I get the whole pay to park, that's ok- I suppose, but pay for wifi! Pay for breakfast! And pay a $50.00/night room deposit! I understand charging the "I don't care spring breakers" but a family; that's just plain retarded. Now I have been here for a total of an hour.. sitting on the beach wishing I could get the money back and just sleep in the car... sooo disappointed. We all went back to the room that they said they cleaned and guess what?! The kids find dirty women's panties in the closet!! Are you kidding me... seriously should not have to pay for this garbage! ! No discount, nothing but an "I'm sorry"... well that doesn't fix a years worth of planning, 2 days in a car, and the money that was spent- especially for whatever else this horrible place will throw at us.. That being said...location is everything and this location is pretty nice. Also there's a view of some beautiful yachts. End review: Don't bring your family here, onto the 6th floor of this horrible place. If you do stay make sure it's in a suite. Some reviews said they are nice. Be prepared to spend hundreds of dollars to get the same amenities you would for free in all the other hotels in this area. And be prepared to get told you are wrong if you have a complaint.

Having just sailed four hundred miles from Tortola to Florida, this place was a welcome site to behold last Spring!! I bet they don't get too many guests arriving by international sailboat! There's a marina right on site; but after a week at sea, we were ready for solid ground. The Bahia Mar did not disappoint. The beds were soooo comfortable after a week at sea! The rooftop swimming pool and poolside bar were a treat, as was the walkway to hop over to the beach a short distance away. We really enjoyed our stay here and cannot wait to return ..... probably by car instead of boat the next time!

Best location available! Nice and clean. Big rooms. Nice pool area, tennis courts, and access to the beach via own bridge across A1A. Have stayed there many nights and on several occations. Am going back. One minus is the breakfast which is expensive and disappointing. But did I mention the location and the big rooms? J.
