One of my favorite cold-weather comfort foods. #food
{Recipe} Indian Rice Pudding. Posted on March 17, 2015 by Diane. Orignal photo by Urban Siren LLC. Edits by the grace of Snapseed and YouCamPerfect iPhone apps. Every once in a while, a siren needs to eat. And since rice pudding may very well be the world's most perfect food, here we go.

What got you there is just as gold as what's keeping you happy in your current situation.
Social media aficionados, bloggers, consultants, CEO's and outlaws: we've all got a backstory. It may not make our A roll on Instagram, but it's there. Oh, it's there. It's there in the years it took to build our businesses and relationships. It's there in the disappointing rejections, ...

Leadership is a key motivator for any individual working for themselves or for someone else. And it can lead a person to their next best level or crush their confidence. Share your leadership stories on the blog or in the comments. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Leadership comes in an array of shapes and sizes. There are blow-hard, self-proclaimed gurus, “diminishers” who throw out the baby with the bathwater, and those who balance wisdom, strength and compassion. Toward the third end, I'm not sure anything tops Pujan Roka's book “Bhagavad Gita on ...

Absolutely enjoyed this piece in The New York Times about the deep study of English literature decaying in colleges today. Long live the word!   #education  #poetry

Always had a hunch about being a dirty birdy. Relieved to know I'm in the majority.  #jeans

How clean are you compared to the average person?
Linens, pajamas, shoes -- how often do people wash and change these things?

Perhaps taking a semi-sabbatical on the #blogging   front wasn't the worst thing in the world to jumpstart my #writing. Sometimes stepping away and coming back fresh puts things in perspective.
It's been one year since I've stopped by my own stomping ground to gain ground on my blogging. Perhaps you didn't notice the cupboard was bare. A good hostess still leaves snacks out, but* I've been the good kind of busy. The working hard, securing new clients, co-launcing new businesses, ...

#SirenChat  transcript on the #blog! Happy chirping :)
So many thanks to the Sirens who participated in the inaugural #SirenChat! We had a hoot and tackled topics ranging from emotions that crop up when our decisions are challenged to leadership figures who inspire us. Regarding the former, I need to take a deep breath. Regarding the latter, I named ...

From the #blog:
For all those days, the ones you may have and I may have and folks you wouldn’t fathom having have, do us a collective solid: burst someone’s bubble and burst it good.
http://urbansiren.com/burst-my-bubble-3-uplifting-tips/
My bubble got burst by several colleagues in one day, the old fashioned way. Snail mail. A postal pile-up. Bang, Bang, Bang. An entrepreneurial story goes something like this: work; work harder; burn out; take break; back to work; work harder than before; forgo break; work hardest; ...

“The writers of the world do this to themselves. Lock away in cabins with no contact.” Latest up on the #blog! #newsletter
The motto of our newsletter is “Say less, do more.” When I received my latest delivery of free photographs from Death to the Stock Photo along with Paul Jarvis's writing prompt on making space for creativity, I reflected on my winter morning experiences. These days, I'm stepping into the snowy ...

"Writers I Love" series on the #blog. What writers inspire you to pour out your best?
Feel-it-from-my-heart/gut follows me everywhere. On all levels. I am also a head-strong pragmatic. As a creative, I can usually float both boats. I've trained myself to self-edit, axing the extra, making the sentiment ever more concise. Keep only sharp-as-a-knife observations.
