New Dungeon Master's Guide art. Looks like Wizards really wants to bring some of the weird back into D&D.

"If you are writing an adventure and you include a phrase such as "No matter what precautions the PCs take, she is still abducted..." Stop writing. Stop writing and don't start again until you come up with a better idea that rewards, rather than disregards, cautious and clever preparation on the part of your PCs. Seriously."

Need. Sticker. For Macbook.

If I ever try to run another D&D campaign in a Dying Earth setting, I think I'll just open with this quote instead of trying to explain the ethos in my own paltry words...

> "Earth," mused Pandelume. "A dim place, ancient beyond knowledge. Once it was a tall world of cloudy mountains and bright rivers, and the sun was a white blazing ball. Ages of rain and wind have beaten and rounded the granite, and the sun is feeble and red. The continents have sunk and risen. A million cities have lifted towers, have fallen to dust. In place of the old peoples a few thousand strange souls live. There is evil on Earth, evil distilled by time... Earth is dying and in its twilight..." he paused.

--- Jack Vance, Tales of the Dying Earth

Some of the best, most inspirational quotes for OSR DMing and gaming. People have been kind enough to comment with some of their own faves, so if you have some of your own, I'd love to hear them!

A selection of favorite quotes about the old-school renaissance, D&D broadly, and what makes this forty-year-old game still resonate today.

Some of the more thought-provoking OSR quotes I've logged over the last year or two.

Anyone have suggestions for modules to include in the Land of 1000 Towers? Most of my go-tos don't really have that ASE feel.

Working on my first module review...

If [character death] sounds unfair, remember that "Adventurer" is defined as "one who looks for trouble," and "Adventure" is defined as "The trouble an adventurer finds." --- James Edward Raggi IV, The God that Crawls
