So far, the downside of Google+ seems to be the requirement of a Gmail account; while the "cool kids" of course have one (or more), so far a lot of my acquaintances that I'd like to manage with circles don't have one and seem to think that having more than one "personal" e-mail address is a bad thing.
I'm betting Android marketshare is about to take it in the teeth over the CarrierIQ thing, even for the companies that didnt adopt it or abuse it. Who wants their phone reporting browser URLs to a third party?
Just ended a 6-week FB hiatus. Was thinking I hadn't missed much, then discovered that my notifications settings got munged somehow, and I'd missed a couple party invites. And of course, they've made it worse in my absence. What's so hard about "chronological order"? Sigh....
Just ended a... I don't know, 2-week? G+ hiatus. Anyway... as far as FB goes, have you tried creating a custom list and putting basically all your friends into it? The list view is chronological. There may still be some filtering applied despite your best efforts (I don't ever see any Twitter cross-posts, for example) but it's the best solution I've found.
