Buddha said, “To find the answer to the mystery, I’m going to sit in one place until something happens.” And he was able to do this because he had the support of a cultural matrix: The doctor, the apothecary, the tradesman, the accountant, the cook. All took him seriously. Even if they could not minister to his needs, even if it wasn’t for any of them, they understood his quest. What he did was an acknowledged part of an accepted monastic tradition that goes way back in India, China, and before conquest, in Tibet.

Kundalini And The True Self
"We spend the first half of our life becoming 'special.' That’s part of the journey, part of our development. But in the second half of life, or when our journey of spiritual growth becomes apparent, being 'nobody special' allows us to become all that we ca...

Chapter 58 -Becoming Overly-Identified with Our Beliefs
The commonly held definition of “belief” as found in the dictionary is:  A firm opinion or conviction; an acceptance of a thing, fact or statement; a person’s religion or religious conviction.  Some would argue that their belief is the “absolute truth.”  Th...

And that’s where seminal retention techniques come in. Seminal retention allows you to conserve the seed during intercourse. Why would you want to do this? For all the reasons stated above, plus the fact that times have changed; the quest for self-realization should not attempt to repudiate the sybaritic tendencies and self-indulgent practices regarding sex in contemporary living, rather this quest needs to change its course. And that, dear reader, requires learning and practicing seminal retention techniques, which by the way, actually add to the pleasurable aspects of sex.

Chapter 60 Richard Rohr on Contempaltion
Practice Letting Go into God It is said that Francis' great prayer, which he would spend whole nights praying, is "Who are you, God? And who am I?" Contemplative prayer helps us to live into these questions.   Who am I? As we observe our minds in contemplat...

Chapter 57 Going Back To The Baiscs
In the search for the pathless path towards greater awakening, sometimes we find that much is gained by going back to the basics of meditation. The search, particularly if it is done through the  Jnana  path (the path of wisdom and self-inquiry) can often l...

Chapter 55 Mobilizing The Energies of the Subtle Body
I’ve enjoyed reading the books written by Lama Yeshe on the subject of tantra. He speaks simply, with great wisdom, but with reasonable caution as to the use of tantra to mobilize the energies of the subtle body for healing and regenerative purposes. As he ...

Story
Introduction
On October, 2005, my wife and I were on our way to begin a six week contemplative retreat on the edge of the desert.  We had never before taken a retreat for this length of time, our longest being some ten years earlier when we spent four weeks at a Monastery.  But this retreat had a special significance for me.  It represented a forty-two day journey in the desert to discover a greater unity between myself and God.

This inner journey started off very similar to the shorter retreats taken during the preceding ten years. However, because of its length, this retreat gave me the time to devote to longer meditation interspersed with reflective reading and prayer.

On day thirty-six of this retreat, I began to experience something radically different than anything I had experienced before.

The purpose of this site and blog is to convey my understanding of this spiritually transforming experience which I would later discover to be kundalini rising.
