Join us for our April wine tasting on Friday, April 14, 2017

Spend the evening discovering with us sampling ten amazing wines from around the world!

Our wine tastings are a fun-filled night where you can come and try new wines, paired with samples of some of our gourmet delights. This is a great way to start your night, with a little wine tastings before you go out to dinner! This is a relaxed, walk about wine tasting, where you can stroll around our gourmet market exploring all our delicious offerings, while you taste some incredible wines.

Nita will be making a light fare of artisan meats and cheeses with a gourmet item or two for you to try along with the featured wines. Don’t forget to take advantage of our special discounts only available during the wine tasting!

Join us next Friday as we host our last wine tasting of 2016! Don't worry, it's just the last one for this year, we've got 2017 dates and visiting wine pros in the works!

For our final wine tasting of the year, we're planning something special, since it is also our holiday wine tasting too! Of course, we'll have ten amazing wines that will be perfect to serve throughout the holiday season. We'll have bubbles, whites and reds that will guarantee your holidays will be merry and bright!

Our visiting wine pros this month will be Kelly Fried of Masciarelli Wines and Dimitre Kossovski of CV Tuscan Wine Imports, both are knowledgeable and have a beautiful passion for great wines.

While you sample your wine, stroll around our gourmet market for terrific holiday gifts for your favorite gourmands! Nita will be preparing some of her most popular appetizers we've served over the past year.

Food and Wine is one of the best magazines for food inspiration... and this week, we’ve found five “Best of Italian” recipes from foodandwine.com.

Let’s start with a classic... Caesar Salad. For those who are “Old School”, this dish conjures up memories of special dinners out. Well, no need for the restaurant, today’s recipe has everything to bring those happy memories to life again. And this dish is loaded with plenty of garlic, anchovies and Parmigiana-Reggiano for a tasty treat. Plus, it’s super-fast and easy to make!

Your Casa Italia ingredients are marked **...
1/2 pound baguette, cut into 1-inch cubes **
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil **
Salt **
4 oil-packed anchovy fillets, drained **
2 garlic cloves, chopped **
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar **
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper **
1 1/2 pounds romaine lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese (about 1 1/2 ounces) **
1 large egg yolk
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

All you need is a baguette and a bottle of crisp Italian white... you are set! Stop in today so you can make this tonight and every night... if you’re a fan of Caesars!

Our wine tastings feature ten wines, light appetizers and the chance to talk with wine professionals about the wines, wineries and current trends in the wine world.

This month we welcome Joe Aparo of Breakthrough Wines and Roberto De Michieli of Pazzione Wine Imports who will be brings some luscious wines from Italy.

Artisan meats and cheeses are not just for sandwiches, or on your charcuterie boards. No, we think there are plenty of ways to enjoy their savory goodness in a variety of recipes.

Today, we’re starting with a recipe that features the classic, mortadella and Parmigiano-Reggiano from Bon Appétit. Our first recipe is: Stuffed Zucchini with Mortadella and Parmigiano-Reggiano, and it will make a fabulous appetizer or lighter entrée. The blend of flavors are super appealing, just add a nice bolder white chardonnay or a nice cannanou (Italian Grenache) and you’re set.

Here is your Casa Italia shopping list:
3 tablespoons olive oil, divided, plus additional for baking dish
1 1/2 cups chopped white onion
2 garlic cloves, chopped
4 ounces mortadella, minced (3/4 cup)
1 cup fresh breadcrumbs (from crustless Italian bread ground in processor)
1 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese, divided

Stop in today so you can make this tonight... we’ll be happy to help you gather everything you’ll need for a scrumptious meal!

We’re excited to announce this week’s Indian food menu for Friday, August 12, 2016!
Nita has a yummy menu planned for us all, a hearty meat curry, a vegetarian curry, along with a side veggie and of course the basmati. (You gotta have basmati!) All our dishes are made from scratch, and Nita’s secret ingredient is her passion for making us delicious dishes.

Without further wait... our menu:
Bhoona Lamb: Nita’s lamb is so delicious! She marinates the lamb so there is no gaminess, just tender tasty meat in a special tomato and garlic sauce with a wonderful blend of herbs.
Chana Masala: Vegetarian, chickpeas are slow-cooked in a spicy tomato sauce with ginger and garlic.
Cauliflower & Potatoes (Gobhi Aloo) a wonderful veggie side dish made with cauliflower and potatoes in a secret blend of spices.
Basmati Rice flavored with cumin: fragrant and the perfect accoutrement for an Indian feast.

Recipe of the Day:
It’s a great week for pizza and we’ve found five homemade recipes that we know you’ll savor every slice and bite. To have a great pizza you need two things, a good crust and a good sauce, we’ve got the good dough, readymade and frozen, all you have to do is thaw out to start. Now that we’ve got the dough, you’ll need a good sauce, now we have terrific ready to go sauces, but if you want to make one yourself from scratch, then here’s the recipe for you... Fresh Tomato Pizza Sauce from Bon Appétit.

This wonderful recipe will be fabulous on every style of red-sauced pizza, and to make your life easier, here is your Casa Italia ingredients shopping list:
1 28-oz. can whole peeled tomatoes, drained
2 anchovy fillets packed in oil, drained
2 cloves garlic cloves
6 tablespoons olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Stop by today so you can make this tonight! This recipe makes about 5 cups, so use what you need then keep in the freezer for when you’re craving homemade pizza pies!
