Vegetation clearance and maintenance works are required to be undertaken in the section of the Pipeline Track, between Clegg and Browns Road, Fern Tree. The works will include removal of overhanging and storm damaged vegetation and improvement to site-line. For safety reasons during the works, the track will be required to be closed to the public during normal working hours: Monday 26 October – Friday 13 November 2015, 7.30am to 4.30pm – Monday to Friday each week. The track will remain open outside these hours, including over the busier weekend periods.

Whilst the track is closed unfortunately no alternative routes are available for this section of the track. Advisory Signage is to be erected onsite to notify track users. The City of Hobart apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused during the hours of temporary closure. Further information please contact the Bushland and Reserves Unit on 6238 2886.

The small concrete footbridge adjacent to the Wishing Well on the Pipeline Track will be removed in early August and a temporary steel footbridge put in its place. This temporary footbridge will provide the necessary access for walkers and bike riders over the creek until the new footbridge is installed. The new bridge will be respectful of the natural and cultural values of the site and will be designed in accordance with the ‘Hobart Mountain Water Supply System Design Guidelines’. Further work at the site will include the conservation and repair of the stone water troughing leading from the Wishing Well to the bridge. All work at the site is being undertaken in consultation with Heritage Tasmania. For further information please telephone 6238 2886.

Temporary Track Closure: A section of the Pipeline Track adjacent to the twin bridges will be temporarily closed from 8am Monday 2 March to 5pm Thursday 5 April 2015 inclusive. The temporary closure is necessary to ensure public safety as the work will involve widening the bridge decking and increasing the height of the hand rail. The work is being undertaken to the twin bridges to provide for shared-use (bicycling and walking). The City of Hobart apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused during this time. The Council acknowledges the financial contribution to the project from the Tasmanian State Government. For further information please telephone 6238 2886.

GASP! Elwick Bay is a new addition to the website! This is a flat scenic walk following the GASP! track from Wilkinsons Point along the Elwick Bay foreshore. A combination of a multi-use concrete path and boardwalk, the route passes through open parkland and wetlands with plenty of seats and shelters along the way. Highlights include scenic vistas, art displays and sculptures and bird watching opportunities.
