Have we mentioned how much we love October? That's when Horror Writers are in peak season, and our fruits and sweet and spicy.

We'll be at the Detroit Scarab Club! We! Are! So! Excited!

"Join us October 15, 2005 for a Third Thursday filled with spooky stories, hot cider and donuts as well as a pumpkin carving contest!
Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers (GLAHW) will be bringing authors to give thrills and chills as we listen for bumps in the night in the main gallery. Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers is a collective and compendium of writers, fans, and misshapen children all huddled together to share their love of Horror, Dark Fantasy, Sci-fi, and True Crime. Founded in 2007, GLAHW is a reading and writing organization dedicated to exploring the power of reading and the expansion of the imagination.

In the garden, we will carve up pumpkins -- be they scary, silly, or great works of art. A contest winner receives…one free year membership to the Scarab Club! In addition to this, two of our own gallery assistants, Michael Zuhorski and Andrea Del Rio will have work on display in the lounge. Visit us October 15, 2015 from 7:00pm-9:00pm for a spooky good time."

Join the Ghoul Crew as they welcome some of the area’s best horror authors in for a discussion of the art and craft of writing and specifically writing horror. We’ll welcome authors Paul Counelis, Roxanne Rhoads, and members of the Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers for a fun and informal panel about what it’s like to write the stories that send chills down your spine. This will be a moderated discussion about the craft, promotion, and world of writing and publishing with time at the end for questions and an opportunity to meet and speak to all of the authors and learn more about their work.

Join us for an afternoon of chilling tales of the world beyond the book and the inspirations behind the things that go bump in the night.

Paul Counelis -
Paul Counelis is a columnist for RUE MORGUE Magazine and the author of several fiction and non-fiction books.

Roxanne Rhoads -
Roxanne Rhoads is the author of Hex and the Single Witch, numerous e-books and the owner of Bewitching Book Tours.

The Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers have put out the Erie Tales anthologies and their many members have all released many successful books on their own.

From the GLAHW we will have -

Sean M. Davis -
Sean M Davis wields a DeWalt drill by day and writes scary stories at night. His fiction, nonfiction and poetry has appeared in Bete Noire, The Best of Dark Eclipse, on Fangoria.com and other anthologies. His debut novel, Clean Freak, was published by Black Bed Sheet Books in 2013. Visit him at seanmdavis.wordpress.com

MontiLee Stormer -
MontiLee Stormer is a troublemaker, writing acts of mayhem and despair for her own selfish pleasure. Her interests wander from abnormal psychology and serial killers, to lost loves and the storied Paradise Valley of Detroit. MontiLee has found herself published in strange and wonderful places like Black Ink Horror, Murky Depths, and Necrotic Tissue, The Sirens Call, and The Daily Nightmare series, Quick Shivers. She’s an active member of GLAHW, contributing to their annual charity anthology Erie Tales, and Supporting Member of HWA. MontiLee employs a ‘well-compensated’ sniper to keep the growing but disturbingly dedicated legion of fanboys at bay. She lives in the Metro Detroit Area with her husband, two cats, and several knitting projects which keep her safely off the streets.

Peggy Christie -
Peggy is an author of horror and dark fiction. She's been writing since 1999 and finds great therapeutic value in destroying the characters she creates. She loves Korean dramas, chocolate, her dogs, belly dancing, baking, lame attempts at keeping the weeds alive in her back yard, and most importantly, her husband of 21 years.

This is a FREE event with light snacks and refreshments.
The event will be in the basement meeting room.
