UPDATE: Roku is the answer. No WiFi needed (after initial setup). My Galaxy S7 can Wifi Direct/Miracast directly to the Roku stick using only my Mobile Data. The WiFi is not connected on the Roku and my Wifi is on, on the S7 but not connected to any network.

Wish I did this a month ago. Unlimited TMO data comes in handy.

Anyone rocking a new #Roku Streaming Stick (3600R). I really need to find a solution to stream via Miracast from my S7 to a hotel TV. The hotel WiFi is horrible, and my S7 is getting 60-70 Mbps down so I want to use mobile data w/o hotspot or WiFi. I am not sure if I can connect to the Roku without having Wifi connected.

If someone has a better way let me know. Any suggestions welcome.

+Andrew Smith doing that now...well similar. Running the eth port and ICS from laptop to tablet which has HDMI out. Line speed has same issues as WiFi. Too many people doing what i'm doing I guess. Have great speed on Tmobile but my current phone does not have MHL so I have to stream.

PSA: Your Android phone can now handle two-factor authentication without any codes.

If you use two-factor auth (and you should!), this is well worth enabling.

Step 1: Go to https://myaccount.google.com/security.

Step 2: Select "2-Step Verification" and confirm your password.

Step 3: Select "Google prompt" and enroll/confirm your device.

That's it! The next time you try to sign into your Google account somewhere new, you'll automatically receive a prompt on your phone asking you to verify the sign-in. All you'll have to do is tap "Yes" in the prompt to proceed.

More security, less hassle. That's a winning combination.

(Not yet using two-factor authentication on your Google account? Go to https://www.google.com/landing/2step first to get started.)

Been a while. Same old same old. Who's still in? So many other phones out there now...is it still relevant.

I'm open to any and all arguments, but I challenge anyone who tells me the 801 is still relevant. GPU, WiFi, faster nand memory, LTE bands, power consumption..it all got upgraded a few times over by now...

What are your thoughts..any good info?

Currently using an S7. Great phone. Waterproof, SD Card, amazing display, insanely fast camera, miracast...checks the blocks in hindsight here except battery. Certainly not the greatest battery but fast charging almost makes up for it.

+courtoman very true sir. i am not sure which app, if any are written in 64 bit. but I think once we moved from dalvic to ART runtimes, those changes allowed a 64 bit cpu to work more efficiently for apps. Also i am a firm believer that things like encryption and media transcoding for pics/vids greatly benefit, a good 2 year difference in technology is exponential in my book. of course i have no merit on these things, just my understanding.

I certainly agree that for "most" the 801 is fine, but as you said i doubt a single person in the "most" category actually pre-ordered this phone.

The goodness never ends. TMO even feeds you now.

Un-carrier 11 is official, and with it, T-Mobile is thanking its customers with free pizza, movie rentals, and stock in the company. Now that Un-carrier 11 is official, what do you think of T-Mo's latest big move?
T-Mobile has made 10 big Un-carrier moves in the past, including Music Freedom and Binge On, and today T-Mo turned things up to 11. Un-carrier 11 is now official, and with it, T-Mobile wants to thank its customers. The first part of the move is T-Mobile Tuesdays, a new app that’ll let postpaid subscribers get a free two-topping Domino’s pizza, a small Wendy’s Frosty, and a VUDU movie rental every Tuesday. In addition to those weekly goodies, ... ...

T-Mobile outperformed the other three major US carriers and wasn't far behind first place.
T-Mobile has won its fair share of awards lately, and today another organization is recognizing T-Mo. The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) today released a new report that details customer satisfaction among telecommunications companies. Included subscription TV companies, ISPs, cellphone companies, and wireless providers. When it comes to the carriers, T-Mobile beat out the other top three US providers with a score of 74, up from 70 i...
