The staff are friendly to patients, and respectful of each other as well. They put a focus on patient comfort. They explained my diagnosis and the costs very clearly, and worked with my insurance, and made the whole process easy. I can particularly recommend Dr Fatahi; she's great.

I didn't have any problems with my teeth. I just went in for a cleaning. I must say they did a fantastic job. My teeth felt very clean after. It is a while ago that somebody did such a thorough job cleaning my teeth.

The staff at Dr Zak Dental made me feel comfortable every step of the way. I was happy to have their recommendations and they helped me immensely with my competing financial and dental health goals. I was treated very well and felt that the staff was experienced and professional. Thank you to Michelle for following up with me afterwards. Awesome!

I wandered into the dentist office afraid and alone. As soon as I walked in I heard words I rarely ever hear, "Hello, welcome!" Wow! Someone who really cares! They wanted to make sure I felt comfortable about wandering into their business. "How can we help you?" I mean, sheesh, can you believe it? They ALSO cared about me so much that they wanted to help me, ME, a stranger. And yet here they were, welcoming me and wanting to help me. Amazing. They took some information from me and then after a short wait, they sat me in a chair and irradiated my face to look at my bones. My teeth bones! But fear not! My chest and torso were protected by a metal apron. My brain though, well probably nothing to be done there. I was then taken to a back office where I got to look at a screen with black and white images of the inside of my skull and sit in a chair wrapped in plastic. Sometime later someone came and jabbed my gums with a metal hook and asked me why I was bleeding. I had no answer, but the care they took in asking reassured me that soon my mouth problems would be well taken care of and the bleeding would be stopped. The woman who stabbed my mouth was called a "dent-ist" which confused me since I have no dents, maybe she puts the dents in you. She seemed to really know her stuff though and when she told me that I had to have my teeth bones hacked at, I felt comfortable and safe knowing she would be the one to do it. Unfortunately, this is a business and they quickly told me that I had to pay for the pleasure of having a high speed, squealing metal drill shoved into my mouth by a masked stranger. I couldn't wait and told them to book me the next open time slot! I'd gladly pay for such services, and so will you! Afterwards, I was taken to a large room with other plastic chairs and I was laid down and a sweet, gentle woman began digging into my mouth with a tiny metal sickle and a small vacuum tube. She was very kind and irrigated my gums with a chemical that was loaded into a syringe. All in all a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. 5/5 would go again

The dentists work very professional. The office staff is always very friendly. They help me out with the baby a lot, which helps me when I have to sit on the chair and can't do anything about a crying baby. Dr. Rai recently cleaned my teeth, she did such a fantastic job. I will refer the office to all my friends and family. I am so glad I found Dr. Zak dental care. We switched to an HMO plan and I must say they just tread you like you have a PPO plan. It took me over a year to find a HMO dentist I like.

Great place, staff is very friendly. I like Dr. Fatahi, she is very gentle, patient and very good with the shots, I barely felt them. I had an inlay done past year and I was very happy with the results. I am going back this year for more treatment. Thank you, Dr. Fatahi. Adriana H.

Honestly, this is the best dental experience I have ever had (and I have had MANY) due to the wonderful, compassionate staff. I have had nothing but positive visits to this office, they have been so accommodating to me and my dental anxiety.my dentist is Dr.Fatahi, and she is absolutely the best! Here are the details most people probably want information on - the office staff are not just friendly, they are highly competent, I have never had to wait for any period of time to be seen, each time they have started my appointment right on time, they have never tried to push any services or treatment on me that I didn't need, the procedures have all been priced affordably, and carried out with excellent skill and efficiency. I can't say enough good things about this office and I am a person that hates going to the dentist! I don't hate it now though since discovering this wonderful group of kind professionals. I can smile again because of Dr.Fatahi and the rest of the skilled staff! thank you!

TAKING CARE OF YOUR BRACES
Cleaning around orthodontic devices can be difficult. Good thing many dental companies have come up with several ways to keep your teeth nice, shiny, and most importantly healthy!
Remember, plaque and bacteria can find themselves accumulating a lot faster around brackets and wires so remember to always clean around braces.
One important factor is to come to your routine dental cleanings every 4-6 months, or as advised by your doctor to protect your teeth from any decay, staining, and even gum problems!
Need advice on how to clean around your braces?

A DENTIST JOKE
PATIENT: "Doctor, I'm very nervous. I am afraid of dentists. You know, this is my first extraction."
DENTIST: "Don't worry. It's my first extraction too."
PATIENT: "Do you extract teeth painlessly?"
DENTIST: "Not always, the other day I nearly dislocated my wrist."

WHEN SHOULD CHILDREN HAVE THEIR FIRST VISIT TO AN ORTHODONTIST?
It can be a common misconception that oral care is simply a luxury, and as adults with completely developed teeth this may be true. However, at a young age tooth care is extremely important for insuring healthy, functioning teeth. So, the important question is when should children begin to visit an Orthodontist? This question can be answered by observing the development of teeth. Between the ages of 6 and 12, when the facial structure and teeth further grow and develop, an Orthodontist is able to best correct any incorrect growth that might be occurring in the child’s permanent set of teeth.
Tooth development occurs in two stages; the first set of teeth, called primary teeth, and the final, permanent adult tooth set. The early stages of oral development are a crucial time for the teeth of children. Primary teeth begin to break through the gums around six months of age, typically emerging in a pattern of front teeth to back teeth (1). A disruption of this order is one of the main causes of child dental problems; leading to the growth of teeth in the spaces of other teeth, infections, and crowding in the mouth.

BRACES vs. INVISALIGN
It’s never too late to perfect your smile.
Ask dental professionals about the health reasons for having a correct bite.
When you have your teeth that are in cross bite, your teeth that are misaligned, and there is a great chance to have food buildup in between your teeth, then plaque buildup which has a trickle-down effect because the more food buildup, the more plaque you get. Therefore, the more concern for periodontal disease.
Improper bite also means you can’t chew food properly, which can lead to gastrointestinal problems.
Orthodontic treatments that use either braces or Invisalign are just few of the many techniques used by dental professionals in straightening the teeth. They straighten teeth to give them an ideal position, improve their look, and promote proper function. Traditional braces utilize metal wires to get the most ideal movement or position for the teeth.
Invisalign on the other hand, utilizes a set of clear plastic trays to achieve the position.

BENEFITS OF ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT
by Dr. Karnakova, DDS
A lot of our patients ask about benefits of having orthodontic treatment. The benefits are not only cosmetic, although who can argue the deep social impact of a good healthy smile. What happens clinically, and what are the health benefits with braces? First of all, crowding and overlapping teeth trap food and bacteria. It is very difficult to clean the teeth that are overlapping and over time, people become more prone to developing cavities. In addition, infection in the gums eventually spread to the bone and destroys the supporting structure that holds the teeth. This leads to loosing teeth and abscess formation.

JULY 2015: ORTHODONTICS MONTH
MESSAGE from Dr. KOPEL
ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT
Phase one orthodontic treatment is sometimes referred to as interceptive orthodontics.
Some orthodontic conditions are simply easier to correct if they’re corrected early. Leaving orthodontic conditions untreated until all the baby teeth fall out can cause damage to the surrounding permanent teeth, trap permanent teeth in the jaw and other problems.
Interceptive orthodontic treatment is all about preventing more severe problems later on. It provides the opportunity for an orthodontist to have control over where the permanent teeth come in by addressing the structure of the jaw and teeth while the primary teeth are still in the mouth.
By age seven, your child’s mouth has grown enough and has enough sound structure to know how it will develop as the permanent teeth start to emerge.
In addition, common problems such as thumb sucking and tongue thrusting can be addressed.
If your Zak Dental diagnostic dentist detects any abnormalities your child will be referred to our in house orthodontist for a consultation.
