The staff are friendly to patients, and respectful of each other as well. They put a focus on patient comfort. They explained my diagnosis and the costs very clearly, and worked with my insurance, and made the whole process easy. I can particularly recommend Dr Fatahi; she's great.

I didn't have any problems with my teeth. I just went in for a cleaning. I must say they did a fantastic job. My teeth felt very clean after. It is a while ago that somebody did such a thorough job cleaning my teeth.

The staff at Dr Zak Dental made me feel comfortable every step of the way. I was happy to have their recommendations and they helped me immensely with my competing financial and dental health goals. I was treated very well and felt that the staff was experienced and professional. Thank you to Michelle for following up with me afterwards. Awesome!

I wandered into the dentist office afraid and alone. As soon as I walked in I heard words I rarely ever hear, "Hello, welcome!" Wow! Someone who really cares! They wanted to make sure I felt comfortable about wandering into their business. "How can we help you?" I mean, sheesh, can you believe it? They ALSO cared about me so much that they wanted to help me, ME, a stranger. And yet here they were, welcoming me and wanting to help me. Amazing. They took some information from me and then after a short wait, they sat me in a chair and irradiated my face to look at my bones. My teeth bones! But fear not! My chest and torso were protected by a metal apron. My brain though, well probably nothing to be done there. I was then taken to a back office where I got to look at a screen with black and white images of the inside of my skull and sit in a chair wrapped in plastic. Sometime later someone came and jabbed my gums with a metal hook and asked me why I was bleeding. I had no answer, but the care they took in asking reassured me that soon my mouth problems would be well taken care of and the bleeding would be stopped. The woman who stabbed my mouth was called a "dent-ist" which confused me since I have no dents, maybe she puts the dents in you. She seemed to really know her stuff though and when she told me that I had to have my teeth bones hacked at, I felt comfortable and safe knowing she would be the one to do it. Unfortunately, this is a business and they quickly told me that I had to pay for the pleasure of having a high speed, squealing metal drill shoved into my mouth by a masked stranger. I couldn't wait and told them to book me the next open time slot! I'd gladly pay for such services, and so will you! Afterwards, I was taken to a large room with other plastic chairs and I was laid down and a sweet, gentle woman began digging into my mouth with a tiny metal sickle and a small vacuum tube. She was very kind and irrigated my gums with a chemical that was loaded into a syringe. All in all a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. 5/5 would go again

The dentists work very professional. The office staff is always very friendly. They help me out with the baby a lot, which helps me when I have to sit on the chair and can't do anything about a crying baby. Dr. Rai recently cleaned my teeth, she did such a fantastic job. I will refer the office to all my friends and family. I am so glad I found Dr. Zak dental care. We switched to an HMO plan and I must say they just tread you like you have a PPO plan. It took me over a year to find a HMO dentist I like.

Great place, staff is very friendly. I like Dr. Fatahi, she is very gentle, patient and very good with the shots, I barely felt them. I had an inlay done past year and I was very happy with the results. I am going back this year for more treatment. Thank you, Dr. Fatahi. Adriana H.

Honestly, this is the best dental experience I have ever had (and I have had MANY) due to the wonderful, compassionate staff. I have had nothing but positive visits to this office, they have been so accommodating to me and my dental anxiety.my dentist is Dr.Fatahi, and she is absolutely the best! Here are the details most people probably want information on - the office staff are not just friendly, they are highly competent, I have never had to wait for any period of time to be seen, each time they have started my appointment right on time, they have never tried to push any services or treatment on me that I didn't need, the procedures have all been priced affordably, and carried out with excellent skill and efficiency. I can't say enough good things about this office and I am a person that hates going to the dentist! I don't hate it now though since discovering this wonderful group of kind professionals. I can smile again because of Dr.Fatahi and the rest of the skilled staff! thank you!

A DENTIST JOKE
PATIENT: "Doctor, I'm very nervous. I am afraid of dentists. You know, this is my first extraction."
DENTIST: "Don't worry. It's my first extraction too."
PATIENT: "Do you extract teeth painlessly?"
DENTIST: "Not always, the other day I nearly dislocated my wrist."

ADA NEWS:  Dads' dental fear may be passed on to their children
A father who is afraid to go to the dentist is likely to pass on his fear to his children, say Spanish researchers.
Although the researchers at Rey Juan Carolos University of Madrid say that previous studies have identified an association between fear levels of parents and children, no study has focused on the different roles of mothers and fathers in passing dental fear to children.
In a study published in the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry, scientists surveyed 183 Madrid schoolchildren ranging in age from 7 to 12 years old, as well as their parents. Families received anonymous questionnaires that asked participants rated their level of fear on 15 items related to dentistry and other medical issues.

JULY 2015: ORTHODONTICS MONTH
MESSAGE from Dr. KOPEL
ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT
Phase one orthodontic treatment is sometimes referred to as interceptive orthodontics.
Some orthodontic conditions are simply easier to correct if they’re corrected early. Leaving orthodontic conditions untreated until all the baby teeth fall out can cause damage to the surrounding permanent teeth, trap permanent teeth in the jaw and other problems.
Interceptive orthodontic treatment is all about preventing more severe problems later on. It provides the opportunity for an orthodontist to have control over where the permanent teeth come in by addressing the structure of the jaw and teeth while the primary teeth are still in the mouth.
By age seven, your child’s mouth has grown enough and has enough sound structure to know how it will develop as the permanent teeth start to emerge.
In addition, common problems such as thumb sucking and tongue thrusting can be addressed.
If your Zak Dental diagnostic dentist detects any abnormalities your child will be referred to our in house orthodontist for a consultation.

6 WAYS TO CONTROL FEAR AND ANXIETY
by Dr. Ilya Zak
Hello my friends. In my last article I spoke about my FEAR AND ANXIETY experience I had as a child. Well this experience, even though, was a very unpleasant one at the time created a very serious approach to fearful and anxious patients in my practices.
There are several excellent modalities to controlling fear and anxiety. I would like to give you my top six list of best ways to control fear and anxiety:
Number 6: Have a candid conversation with your dentist about the fear and and anxiety you’re having. You should let the dentist know how you feel just being at his office.
Number 5: Ask the dentist about different techniques available to him to help you relax and let him explain what they do in the office
Number 4: Nitrous Oxide sedation is an excellent way to relax and is extremely safe. Also know as “laughing gas”. It is a gas you inhale coupled with oxygen to help you relax in the office. This is completely safe and is an excellent way to make it through the appointment for adults and children.
Number 3: Ask about taking a sedative pill prior to your visit. There are several pills such as Valium, Halcion or Triazolam may be taken prior to the visit to help you achieve moderate level of sedation. Some people become groggy and may fall asleep during the procedure.
Number 2: IV sedation. This is moderate sedation you receive through your vein and it helps you relax and sleep during dental procedures. You are constantly monitored during the process
and the NUMBER 1 modality:
Number 1: Deep sleep sedation and general anesthesia. In this case you will get medication which will make you almost or totally unconscious. This is also referred to as deep sleep.
In Zak Dental we pay special attention to people with fear and offer them all the modalities I named above to help control and alleviate patient’s fear.
