Don't shop at the Wolford's store for tights or stay-ups!!! Poorest quality and at the same time the most expensive I have ever had. My boyfriend bought me two pair of tights which both ripped during the first time I used them. My other - cheaper - tights and stay-ups I have been able to use (including at parties) for years with minor damage. For new years I bought a pair of stay-ups from Wolfords which were torn basically everywhere by the end of the evening without anything spectacular happening. Already when I put them on I noted a minor hole and little black "worms" in the fabric, but decided to wear them anyway because I had bought them for this occasion. When I went back to the store to show them all the damage and pointed this out, the woman said: "no there wasn't" with a face saying "you're lying". I was quite stunned by this and looked back at her and said "yes there was." The manager came and said: "that's impossible because all the stockings are quality-checked before sold in the store". Impossible?! Improbable maybe. They were there anyhow, maybe it happened when I took them out of the packing then or put them on my legs, because I didn't use silk gloves like they do in the store, but I would assume a normal quality stay-up should be able to withstand such brutal treatment as non-silk-glove-wearing when you put them on? Either way I don't care much for being called a liar by shop-workers. I am also amazed by how the personnel persisted that there was nothing wrong with the quality of the stay-ups, I was at fault for having torn them. I will give them the benefit of a doubt when it comes to the huge tear, stretching from beginning to end of the stay-up (although such a tear has never happened to any of my previous thights or stay-ups), if I did indeed get caught in something without noticing (unlikely at a dinner party) it could happen. But holes in BOTH of the stay-ups at the toe?? "It was probably your shoes" they told me. What? I can't wear shoes with my stay-ups? "or your toe-nails" (which had been clipped for the exact reason that I was avoiding that to happen). So I can't wear these stay-ups with toenails and shoes, and can't put them on without silk gloves? I'm sorry, I think somebody needs to give me the definition of poor quality, because here I thought it was when things break easily with normal wear. I payed 39 euros for that crap. I will never shop Wolford's again and I urge you to not repeat my mistakes. Because if you bring it back you'll be called a liar and told what excellent quality the tights really are. There are plenty of other brands which makes nice prints for tights and stay-ups and they cost about half the price. Wolford's obviously just want to make you think they're really exclusive although I wouldn't be surprised if they were made from child labor.

The bottom floor makes you quickly feel, like you're somewhere, you don't belong, because everything is full of security, guarding the luxury goods around. But when you take the escalator just one level up, you are back to normal. Average, pricey goods await you. Under the roof, there is a pretty awesome food corner, which make De Bijenkorf a five star experience in Amsterdam, although, the shopping experience suffers a bit from the weak offers on the 2,3 and 4 level.

Classy department store in the center of Amsterdam set over 5 floors. The restuarant on the top floor offers quick, fresh food at much better prices than the tourist restuarants. The stir fry being my favourite.

Lower floor has separate brands housed and the rest of the floors are mixed. You can easily lose half a day in here if you take it slow. There is also a place to eat at the top and it's very close to Kalverstraat so you can quickly continue shopping.

If you are looking for a shopping center that has it all, then this is as close as it gets in Amsterdam. First floor is always very busy, but with some patience you can make it to the top where there is a great restaurant (roof terrace available) and free toilets (not common in Amsterdam).
