PGOpen 2015 will be held in Wanaka from
Saturday 31st Jan to Saturday 7th Feb 2015

Registrations are now open. Check out the PGOpen website for more details.

Here is the circle of Google+ users that are attending the Rotorua round of the PGOpen. We recommend that you create your own circle containing these people, and then use the "Locations" option in the Google+ menu to share your location with this circle. That way we will be able to see each other on the map and maybe get a quick retrieve.

We are offering a Weekend Warriors registration, to fly Saturday 22 Feb, Sunday 23 Feb and Saturday 1 March, for $60. It includes the pilot pack, competition organisation, daily briefings including weather summary (T-Shirt and prize dinner are not included).

If you want this option please select the Weekend Warrior registration type on the registration form at

Have you booked accommodation for PGOpen Round 2 in Rotorua? The Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park has only one cabin left for the Saturday night, so get in touch with them if you still need a place to sleep!

Tomorrow, Sunday is looking very windy and wet in the morning. The 8:00am briefing at the Sprig & Fern is cancelled. Please pass the message. There is a slim chance of an evening task from about 4pm. Rebrief at 'S & F' at 2pm unless notified otherwise. I'll try and phone everyone.

Tomorrow (Friday 24 January) is looking good for a flying day at Takaka.
If you are in town and ready for a 9-30 start and need transport text 021350066 and we'll see what we can do.

The good news never seems to stop coming:
One of our sponsers (SBS) have offerred us the free use of their courtesy bus for (most) of the week..
This will impact greatly on the cost of transport.
It may not be too late to take this option.
If you are interested contact Jason Hamill: 0211388004
Unsurprisingly Jason has been swamped with requests for the spare seats. Please be patient and don't be disappointed if you don't end up in one of the spare seats. Priority will be given to those who indicated on their registration form AND to overseas pilots who may not have contacts and networks in NZ to organise their own transport. Costs are still being assessed as we need to rent an similar bus for the two days when the free one is not available.
OK people. Here are the numbers: $185 per pilot for 8 days of transportation. That's a good deal so get in while you can. Contact Jason at the number/email above and confirm you want transport (do so even if you contacted him last night)
