How's your unsubscribe link on your marketing emails?

Make it plain & clear, but it doesn't have to be boring. Good example from +UK4Business - makes it an end to sending flowers...

Wow! Trump 20 points above Clinton!

That's in their email marketing complaint rate, by the way!

Yep, according to research by the excellent +Return Path,
Clinton's complaint rate is around zero, whilst Trump's has reached as high as 20% - possibly due to the bulk of his sends going from a new, untested domain, also resulting in as much as 60% being lost to spam filters.

Data protection & e-privacy: good summary from Anya Proops QC at 11KBW re recent report from the snappily named EU Article 29 Working Party re proposed revisions to the E-Privacy Directive.

Couple of key points re direct marketing, particularly for companies offering solus email campaigns &/or 3rd party mailings, stating that 'Forced consent' should be prohibited for 'bundled consent for processing for multiple purposes' (yep, agree) & that "consent has to be specific" also applies "where an organization sends unsolicited communication on behalf of other organizations"

Sugging - another tele-marketing practice that I detest...

Selling Under the Guise of research (yep, I know - rubbish acronym!)

Good to see action being taken by the +Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), though I wish there were fines involved, too.

Is the newly adopted Privacy Shield, finally agreed between USA & the EU a big step forward, or just "little more than a little upgrade"?

Ever wondered if your average spammer was plain-stupid?

Using a funeral home email as your 'from' address when sending your dodgy-meds emails would seem to confirm it!

Tesco Clubcard user?

Interesting to see that they use your shopping history as part of their risk-analysis when you ask them for a car insurance quote.

Just wonder what we buy that could lead them to think we're either a higher or lower risk?

Multiple copies of Grand Theft Auto leading to an increased premium?

Maybe the DVD of Driving Miss Daisy in my shopping basket suggesting a more gentile driver?

Cans of spray paint in the same colour as my car suggesting a history of small accidents..?

Any suggestions? If so, might go and do a large shop just before finalising my quote :)

And +Tesco, if you're reading, do let us know...
