“A tried-and-true spot to quaff a few pints of Guinness after work”, this “comfy” Irish Downtowner is the “rare place to take your drink outside in SF”, thanks to tables lined up in a hidden alley; “getting a seat” can be “tough”, but devotees are willing to wait to enjoy “great pub grub” and a “huge selection of whiskeys” delivered by “friendly” servers.
The Irish Bank is always a great time. I go a lot with people from work, and the bartenders and waitresses are amazing and treat us exceptionally well. Their thing is pickle backs, and their food is really good as well. They have a big patio in the back that they leave open, weather permitting. If you call in advance, you can reserve booths for your party. The staff definitely takes care of you.
I had been wanting to go to the Irish Bank for a while and finally had the perfect excuse. Very authentic old Irish pub in the middle of SF. The bar was impressive with all sorts of beers, bourbon, whiskey and more. I really liked how casual it is and the friendly environment. I wish it was closer to home in Hayes Valley as we need more casual and friendly bars like this one. Now I know where to go in Downtown for a good beer and glass of Bourbon. Cheers!
As close to Ireland as one could get. I like getting the vegetable shepherds pie. The fish and chips are really good too. They have Guinness on tap which is my favorite accompaniment to my meal. Located in an alleyway, they have both indoor and outdoor seating.
The beer is great and cheap. Best part of the night used to be when they added a new beer when one ran out to the old board. There are booths for larger groups, but theyre usually tough to grab. Groups also linger for a while (rightfully so), but plan to stand for a while before getting your paws on a seat
