I celebrated my fortieth birthday here with a group of girlfriends. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely from the first glass of champagne to the last of the chocolates with coffee. I've been back several times since. The staff at Maceo are always friendly and warm and the food is absolutely delicious. The elegant, tranquil dining room is the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion. It's a real gem within easy walking distance of the Louvre. It's right behind the Palais Royal. I always advise anyone going to Paris to be sure they make time for at least one lovely lunch at Maceo.

The quality of meals did not deserve the price charged. Biggest disappointment was the attempt at making a vegan risotto which consisted of a bland plate of peas and hard rice. Was expecting more for our last night in Paris. :(

Was expecting something out of the ordinary after seeing reviews about veg food around.. But, wasn't at all impressed. The local veg dish around the corner the night before was twice as good and half the price. Didn't taste much and what they did was trying to make gnocchi look like stake by grilling or sautéing it, but didn't taste more than oil and and regular gnocchi... To bad =( not close to be worth the money

Top-notch service; one of the few restaurants in Paris that offer an all-vegetarian prix fixe option so it's a nice place to bring a mixed crowd of carnivores and herbivores. Good food -- but I wouldn't call it great -- esp. in this city of amazing food.

I have been a regular at Macéo over the past few years, visiting as a must whenever I am in Paris. The great vegetarian options have been a life saver when entertaining. Their new chef is terrific and I think the food has never been better. My last starter was a delicious 'mousse de fevettes', beautifully presented, wonderfully light & perfectly seasonally adapted. I beleive there is some connection with the Tour d'Argent as the duck I had next was very moreish... The spaces are comfortable & I particularly like the low tables in the salon, great for a quiet discussion. The MD, David, knows what I like, makes me a mean GT & I also go there because I feel at home. A valuable asset when travelling.

As a guide who has explored Paris for many years, I look for restaurants that reveal the French tradition at its best and have an excellent price-quality ratio. Maceo is among my first choices for déjeuner, which at just under 30€ is elegant and and outstanding. I'm surprised some of the negative reviews here: the visitors may simply have had a bad day.

I always recommend this place to friends when they come to Paris. It's where my husband and I had our wedding reception back in August 2007 as well. They are good people and worked with us on price. I've had their Valentine's Day meal as well and it was to die for. I highly recommend going if you're in town.
