Over 25 citizens came together for our third Scenario Planning Workshop on the Road. Thanks to Supervisor Hartzell and the Clarence IDA for hosting a Workshop at the Clarence Town Hall . These workshop provided an opportunity for citizens who were unable to attend our Community Congresses to map what their future Buffalo Niagara looks like.

Our January eNews is now available! Wondering what those 57 maps created at our Community Congress Workshops in November say about the future of ‪#‎Buffalo‬ ‪#‎Niagara‬? A preliminary analysis of the maps reveals many trends and common themes across each map. These include:

- We Should Grow Where We’ve Already Grown
- We Should Build Walkable, Livable Communities and Preserve Those that Are Vibrant and Working
- We Should Connect Our Places by Expanding and Diversifying Our Transportation Options
- We Should Protect Farm Land, Parks and Natural Areas to Ensure a Good Quality of Life

This analysis is still a work in progress as One Region Forward continues to engage community groups through our Workshops on the Road. Bring us to your community and sign up for one today: http://www.oneregionforward.org/get-involved/scenario-planning-workshops-on-the-road/

One Region Forward participated in the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market to help promote the importance of food access and justice in creating a more sustainable Buffalo Niagara region. Farmers Markets help improve the linkages between farmers and consumers, and are just one example of how you can help move One Region Forward in your every day life.

One Region Forward participated in the BPN's Community Fun Day held at McCarthy Park. The members of the community we spoke with told us that strong and sustainable neighborhoods and a strong and sustainable region are built upon a foundation of safe and affordable housing, accessible transportation, better jobs, and quality education. We agree that all those things are necessary to move One Region Forward!

One Region Forward participated in City of Night, which took place at Silo City, a collection of Buffalo’s grain elevators. Not only was this a perfect setting to enjoy the art, music, and culture our region has to offer, but it also provided a perfect venue to talk to people about sustainability. Many of our conversations focused on coming up with innovative ways to reenergize and reinvest in our region, much like City of Night has done by reactivating long vacant grain elevators and attracting thousands of people to put our region on the map.

One Region Forward participated in the Lewiston Art Festival, whose theme this year was “The Art of Green Weekend.” Small changes spearheaded by the Arts Council, like the use of compostable and recyclable products by food vendors, placement of 16 recycling bins decorated by campers, and T-shirts made from recycled plastic bottles and organic cotton can add up to make a big difference in reducing the footprint of something as large as a festival. Changes like these help move One Region Forward!

One Region Forward participated in Open Buffalo's event "Involved, Informed, Invincible!", which brought national speakers and local artists together to encourage the region's youth to become active participants in changing the dialogue on issues like jobs, healthcare, and education among others. Today's youths will become tomorrow's leaders and help move One Region Forward!
