I have been going to Identity for about 3 years now to get my hair colored, and every time I have been extremely happy. I first started going because I wanted my hair ultra-platinum blonde and tried bleaching it myself (for anyone thinking about trying this without any experience, i'll save you some's a really bad idea. Boxed peroxide is not strong enough unless you get it from a beauty supply place, and you'll likely just ruin your hair having to double-process & correct it), and it came out looking like an orange mess. I called in a panic wanting to get it corrected before having to go to work. They got me in the same day and fixed me right up, and I've been going ever since. If you're looking to go ultra-platinum white blonde, I would highly recommend Cheryl, who I've been going to for 3 years...she does a lot of blondes and always does a great job with my hair...she gets my roots from medium brown to white blonde in 45 minutes, and my hair feels really soft & silky afterwards...I've never had a problem with breakage either. It usually costs around $80-100, which isn't exactly cheap, but I've found that I get what I pay for. Identity is very nice and luxurious-looking inside and I always have a nice experience there. I've noticed some of the other stylists there are not really a class act so to speak, but I think they're in the minority. By and large, it is usually a pleasant atmosphere. The only issue I've ever had there was once they booked my appointment date wrong and they were kind of rude about it...they kept me waiting for about 45 minutes before even telling me what was going on and that they screwed up, then did not give me the option to reschedule with my usual stylist, just passed me on to someone who was free. They did an ok job but it wasn't how it usually looked, which would have been ok except they charged me the same they always do. I would have at least expected an apology and a discount, especially as a regular customer. I try not to be rude or make a big deal about things like that because I've had kind of job before and know how it is when people get nasty at you over an honest mistake, but if I was in their position I would have at least extended an apology and offered to make it right. Anyway, all in all I have always been very happy with Identity and my hair always looks just how I want it. I always recommend them to anyone who asks where I get my white blonde done!!

I was a client at Identity in Kenwood for several periods of time over the past 25-30 years. Each of these periods of time lasted anywhere from 2-10 yrs. I went there for manicures, facials, eyebrow threading, and for hair services such as cut, color, and deep conditioning. I had several hair stylists over the years. I can honestly say I can only remember *one* time (out of at least 50) when I was happy with the cut I received, and once or twice with the color. I had several different stylists over the years. A few times I arrived to find that my appointment had either been cancelled or transferred to someone else's book (w/out even notifying me!) because the stylist I was seeing got fired. These are not classy ladies by any stretch, and I really don't like saying that, but it's true. Two were fired for stealing, two were fired because there was some love triangle going on (I can't make this stuff up!), and another was fired because she called in sick more than she came to work (that's what the manager said, anyway. Aren't they supposed to keep this stuff hush-hush?) There were also times when my stylist called in sick and I was desperate to get my hair done that day and was booked with someone else who maybe came closer to the hairstyle I wanted than my stylist had so I'd stay with them. More than once I was switched by the manager when I went to have my cut or color adjusted because she said she 'didn't like the stylist I was with and that I'd get better service with who she'd set me up with'. One of the stylists I had could never look at ME when she spoke to me. She would only talk AT me while watching herself in the mirror. That was SO frustrating... and annoying, and rude! What really aggravated me often was when the stylist would convince me to try something 'her way' instead of what I wanted, and promised that if I didn't like it, she would do it over for free. This happened at least five times over the entire time I went to the salon, with cuts and with color. Sometimes they would honor their promise and re-do it, but sometimes they wouldn't. The last time I went, I let the stylist convince me to go to a color much lighter than I was comfortable with, with the same promise made. Against my better judgement, I allowed her to do it. When all was said & done, I HATED it. When I received the call-back from the manager regarding the re-do, I was told the stylist didn't want to do it over, even though she had specifically told me she was happy to re-do it both at the time of service AND afterward when I'd called and told her I wasn't happy. (The stylist had even added that she was glad I let her try the lighter color because SHE really wanted to see what it would look like on me!) I thought I had a great rappore with this stylist - but this was the opposite of what she'd said to me! I decided right then that I would NEVER give them my business again. On average, I paid over $200 for my service each time (cut/color), and IN ADDITION, a $35-$50 tip PLUS at least $35 in products! I tipped well even when I didn't like it! I have given Identity WELL over $15,000.00 during the years I was a customer there. I would have thought that my business was more important than the way I was discarded. To think I defended Identity when my clients, co-workers, friends, and even strangers would rant about how bad of an experience they'd had there! Now I guess I'll sing along with the chorus of complaints about this "upscale" salon. MY ADVICE TO YOU: KEEP LOOKING!!

I called the salon to inquire about the Laser Hair Removal Service on Groupon and asked if I need to get a consultation before I bought it. I was told "No". When I went to the appointment this past weekend, I was told I was not eligible for the service because I needed to go to a site that offers services to African American Women. That the equipment she has is only for fair skinned individuals.... I am not White and I am not Black... WTF!!!! I do not recommend this place to anyone... EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Used to work here. Lee Ann was a horrible spa manager! She so lied about anything she could! Intimidating other girls and talking about them behind their backs! After I left, I saw her and she hid behind her daughter! Talk about having something to hide! The owner, Lynda was very kind and sweet. I hope Lee Ann is gone and someone else is running the spa now!

I called the kenwood location to make an appointment for a haircut/style and the receptionist was kind and helpful. She was able to book an appointment for the same day at my convenience. I brought in a coupon from the City Access Coupon Book which the receptionist confirmed I could use with my hairdresser over the phone. The location was easy to find and the atmosphere was elegant and clean. My hairdresser was kind and was intuitive so that I would get the haircut I want. I don't like to chat much and I think she could tell, which I appreciated. My haircut was perfect and the styling that was done was what I had requested. I've always had such terrible experiences with hair salons no matter where I go, but this was the first time I left satisfied. Thank you Ashley for cutting my hair, and thank you Identity for helping me restore some faith in a hair salon. Bravo.

Identity is an A+ Salon!!! Ignore the rumors and give this Salon a chance. It is in such a wonderful location in Kenwood adjactent to the Toy's R Us. It has very ample parking. You walk into a oasis of a salon with a cascading waterfall. The receptionists are always changing and some are pleasant and some aren't. It seems more and more girls are leaving the salon but I've been going to see Chelsea for nearly 3 years. She's always a big ball of energy and does wonders with my hair!!!! I often bring pictures of what I would like done and she masters it exactly the way I would picture it. Sometimes she even gives me honest and respectful reccommendations which I greatly appreciate. She's such a sweetheart!! I will always be a repeat customer of Identity and Chelsea!!!!
