SUPPORT FEMALE FILMMAKERS! See the Q&A with Ariel Kavoussi  below:

Q: What do Philip Roth, Marc Maron, Woody Allen, and Ariel Kavoussi have in common?

A: We have all have written stories about professor/student liaisons.

Q: What don't we have in common?

A: I'm a lady and would like to make a movie about this from the point of view of a young woman. I'm inspired by these guys, but often I see them fetishing these types of relationships. It annoys me.

So please support female-identified perspectives and support my new short film "The Poet and the Professor" now on Kickstarter!

Color is intrinsic to art and is employed in countless ways by visual artists and designers.

Color can attract or repel, be quiet or loud, and convey a multitude of moods. The infinite color spectrum has been celebrated in modern art movements such as Color Field painting, with many artists focusing on color itself as their main subject.

How can color — or lack of it — affect our perception of an artwork and our desire to investigate it further?
The fourth piece in our Seven Elements of Art series, which helps students make connections between formal art instruction and our daily visual culture.

We’re expanding the HEADCASE anthology to include clinical perspectives. We’re looking for cutting edge work that embraces consumers/news ideas in mental healthcare/LGBTQ affirmative therapy/etc. rather than sets up an “us v. them” perspective. We want relatable pieces written in a conversational style and not from the traditional other side of the desk therapist angle written from an arm’s length POV. See our current Call for Clinical Contributions:

What can be learned from looking at an artist’s desk? Does the workspace contain the material markers of process? Does it hint at the final outcome of the artwork?

“The public doesn’t usually associate poverty with the LGBT community. Unfortunately, that perception is wrong: poverty is a huge problem for many LGBT people. Yet there are far too few legal resources to address the challenges and discrimination faced by low-income LGBT individuals..."

When I got out of a hospital in NJ and NO OTHER psychiatrist in NYC would see me, Dr. Papp made sure my meds were corrected and worked with me over a period of time to titrate them to to the most tolerable level.
